This is the maiden International Children Games Ghana Outstanding Achievement Award. The Awards will be given every year to honor individuals and organizations from around the world that have dedicated their private wealth or use their personal connection to make extra ordinary contribution in the field of sports and development and made the world a better place for all of us. Criteria for selection are based on each honoree contributions to a field nationally or internationally. Honorees are selected from among nominations made by sports development grassroots organizations worldwide who have recognized the impact of their contributions. The selection committee for the 2008 ICG Outstanding Achievement Award was chaired by Cecilia Pink of the Virginia Global Partnership in Virginia, and included Kwaku Kyei, President of the International Children Games Ghana, Patrick Arthur Director of Communication of the International Children Games Ghana, Harry Ngueneba of Save the Children Sports Trust in Cote D’Ivoire and Daniel Mulumba Executive Director of Interreligious Peace Games Nigeria. The International Children Games Ghana as part of our commitment to contribute extraordinary leaders and achievers committed to promote peace and sports initiatives decided to institute our awards scheme to recognize leaders who have made significant contribution in the area of sports and development in our own small way. We believe that it is not all the time that we have to look unto the Nobel peace prize and other prestigious institutions and universities to recognize those who have make extraordinary contribution to make the world a better place but little known organizations at the grassroots such as the International Children Games Ghana need to stand up and also make our own contribution in appreciation of the contribution of these achievers whose works benefit people at the grassroots not the famous institutions who normally bestows such awards. Rather than the awarding institution been expected to be renowned and prestigious, these awards will be bestowed by an ‘unknown’grassroot organisation who will give the awards to the extraordinary achievers who will make the awards to be prestigious and well known. The International Children Games Ghana shall present to extra ordinary leaders in the field of philanthropy, sports, peace and sustainable development who has made extra-ordinary contribution in the field of sports and development and made the world a better place for us.
