Critique Writing Rubric Tech Theatre Directions: Each critique should be written based on the performance specified in your syllabus. Critique format is 5 paragraph written essays. They must be typed. Critiques are not accepted Late; if you are absent on due date you need to turn it in first day when you arrive back at school, no later. Use the following writing guide and point breakdown to write your paper. Critique Structure: Paragraph #1 Points Introduction Statement “Catch” Sentence Thesis: “what paper is about” 10 Paragraph #2 Points Summary of performance viewed. Actor’s Names & character roles Summary of Plot/Story: Beginning, climax, & end 20 Paragraph #3 Points Acting Analysis Critical statements about acting quality: 2 things you liked & 2 you didn’t like. 20 Paragraph #4 Technical Analysis Identify aspects from each of the 5 tech areas: o Lighting, Scenery, Props, Sound, & Costumes. What where they? Where they effective? Why or Why not? Paragraph #5 Points Closing: Summary of paper statement. Your over all opinion of performance, likes and dislikes.
