Assessment Guidance You will be required to work collaboratively with provided learning tasks and utilise self assessment strategies and feedback to assess your collaborative team working skills (learning outcome 4). You will also submit a piece of coursework requiring you to reflect upon practice based situations relating to service user and carer involvement and the policy drivers for collaboration. You will reflect upon your own skills of collaborative working and plan to meet your identified development needs. This assessment task is 100% of the overall module mark. This assessment task is in two parts and is closely related to the activities you have been engaged in during your timetabled sessions. Part A relates to learning outcomes 1 to 3 Part A requires you to select a practice based situation and discuss it in light of policy. You could elect to write about the practice scenario you have been exploring in your classroom sessions or identify a practice situation from your own experience. You should discuss the situation you select in terms of how a policy you identify, and any subsequent documentation related to it, influences service user involvement and integration of services You should also indicate how this relates to interprofessional working The aim of this essay is to identify how a contemporary policy might influence interprofessional working with service users. When discussing this policy take examples from your selected practice based situation and use these to illustrate how a collaborative approach was maintained throughout the intervention, Guidance on preparing this assignment Suggested structure to part A: You could start with an introduction that outlines what will be discussed in the essay. You could introduce the policy that you will be exploring and briefly mention the principal components of your selected practice based scenario (200 words) At the beginning of the main part of your essay you could define what is meant by service user involvement in the context of your essay and develop a discussion that defines interprofessional working and collaborative practice. This discussion should draw out the relationship between service user involvement and interprofessional working. (500 words) The next major component should introduce and discuss the policy you have selected. Its main aims and the principles it is concerned with should be summarised and explored with a focus on elements of collaborative working and the integration of services – this integration can be at any level: within practice areas, across a service, across organisations or agencies. (500 words) You could then explore how this policy might relate to the practice based situation you have selected as an example and discuss where opportunities for collaboration arise within the scenario. (500 words) You should conclude your essay with a short summary of the main points you have raised and your overall evaluation of the need for interprofessional collaborative practice in the context of ensuring service users’ involvement in their care. (300 words) It is suggested that Part A should be approximately 2000 words. It will attract approximately two thirds of the marks allocated to the assignment. Part B relates to learning outcome 4: Reflect on your development needs and apply strategies to enable you to become a capable collaborative worker. To address this part of the assignment you need to make a selfassessment of your level of development using the provided selfassessment document related to the Interprofessional Capability Framework. You should assess yourself against the whole Framework in preparation for your assignment (you will have practised this in a classroom session). To complete the written part of Part B, you should select one capability from each of the four domains of the Framework and identify the learning level you believe you have attained in each of these capabilities. You should identify examples from your learning; this could be practice learning, classroom learning or personal study and write reflectively about how each example demonstrates your achievement of the learning levels. You can look at page 21 in the Capability mini guide on the module blackboard site to find examples that may help you with this part of the assignment. You should reflect on these examples and consider what further learning opportunities you need to undertake in order to progress to the next level of learning in each case (or the capable level if you assess you are already at level 3). It is suggested that this part of your assignment should be approximately 1000 words. You should formulate an action plan that summarises your plans for your future development within the four capabilities you have identified. The action plan is not included in the word count. You should use the provided template as the basis of the action plan. Part B will attract approximately one third of the marks allocated to the assignment. Your essay should be supported by reference to literature and be accurately referenced. Care must be taken to ensure that no individual person, placement area or organisation can be identified. You must protect, at all times, the integrity of those you care for, work with and the services in which you gain practice experience.
