Strength Report (Appendix 1) 1.1. The chart attached at Appendix 1 shows police officer and police staff strength and availability against budgeted strength as at 30 June 2006. All figures are ‘full time equivalents’ whereby part time officer / staff hours have been aggregated to show full time strength. 1.2. The long term sickness statistics set out in Column 7 are calculated for 31 May 2006. 1.3. The actual strength figure for staff (Column 3) exceeds the budgeted strength figure (Column 2). This is because the actual strength figure includes temporary staff covering for absences due to sickness or maternity leave and those funded from external sources like the Home Office or Community Partnerships. 2. Police Officers - Strength Forecast 2006/2007 (Appendix 2) 2.1. The chart attached at Appendix 2 shows budgeted and actual police officer strength to 30 June 2006 and includes forecast figures for the rest of the financial year. 2.2. Budgeted strength is currently 3758 posts. Actual strength may exceed budgeted strength in some months because a number of posts are funded by the Special Projects Budget or external sources including the Home Office and Community Partnerships. 3. Officers seconded overseas 3.1. There are currently no officers seconded overseas. 4. Recommendations 4.1.
