All Quiet on the Western Front Symbolism Poster Rubric
Required for the All Quiet on the Western Front assignment, you will create a poster that shows
the relevant symbolism within the book. To that end, you need to address the criteria listed below in
order to receive full credit. This poster will be based not only on the quality of the product and the
depth of the insights, but also on your oral presentation. You will be expected to explain your visual

Your visual should develop 1 major theme developed in the
book
This theme should be clearly expressed in the images of your
visual.
These representations shouldn't be reenactments of scenes
but rather insightful, powerful images that speak to the
symbolism used in exploring the themes
Thought-provoking, imaginative and powerful
they should represent the themes by collecting from the
symbolism used throughout the book
be sure all ways symbolism is used in developing these
themes is somehow incorporated
should have at least 10 images
Product should reflect pride in your work
should reflect an effort to find original, insightful ways of
exploring and representing the themes
don't just draw scenes from the book, combine images with
similar ones to create a collage that speaks to the symbolism
and the theme
It is your job to convince me that you've read and interacted
profoundly with the literature
be sure you have images from throughout the book and that
your oral presentation, if not the organization of your visual,
explains the development of the themes and its associated
symbolism
Consider this like a speech
do not litter your delivery with unnecessary sounds or words:
