Greece and Macedonia
After the Peloponnesian War, Sparta took over the rest of the Greek citystates. All of the Greek city-states were weakened by the Peloponnesian
War, and they did not fear Sparta like they used to. Some of the larger
city-states were angry at both Athens and Sparta for ruining Greece and
ending it’s Golden Age.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Macedonia was to the north of Greece and
watching.
The other Greek city-states joined together and fought Sparta. They freed
the Spartan slaves so that the Spartans had no food, and they killed the
Spartan king in battle. Greece once again destroyed itself. The most
powerful city-states left were all at war.
As Greece grew weaker, the Macedonians grew stronger. The
Macedonians invaded Greece, led by their king Philip II.
