Comment:
Ware Town Council objects to the application on the grounds that:
 The proposed development would result in a loss of parking spaces in an extremely
congested street.
 Any loss of parking spaces is likely to have a severe impact on road safety in a
neighbourhood which contains a secondary school, a children’s playground and sheltered
housing for the elderly.
Should permission be granted, Ware Town Council requests the following conditions: That the flats should be 2 x 1 bedroom flats as this would reduce the number of potential
residents and visitors and therefore the number of vehicles coming into Gilpin Road.
 That parking should be managed during construction and that contractors should cooperate with residents of neighbouring properties.
 That before the new properties are ready to be occupied, all parking provision is completed
as per the plans, including retaining the existing parking bay and building the 12 new
spaces.
 That cars continue to park in the bay as per the current fashion (i.e. perpendicular); if cars
have to parallel park, this will reduce the number of vehicles the bay can accommodate.
It was also RESOLVED to email all councillors on the Development Management Committee and
the relevant Planning Officer asking them to visit Gilpin Road at around 6pm to see the parking
problems.
