Independently Read Book Projects You will choose from a variety of topics (each worth a different number of points) to earn up to 100 points for your Book Report grade. Get the rubrics for whichever projects you choose. You may not do a project of the same type more than twice. COLLAGE OF A SECTION – use a variety of pictures and images to create a collage that depicts the events of a section from the story. (25 points) DRAMATIZE A SECTION – in a small group (no more than 3), choose a scene to act out from the book. The scene can either be performed in class, or videotaped and shown to the class. You will need props, costumes, and be familiar with your lines. (75 points) COMIC STRIP – draw a comic strip, consisting of at least 6 panels, depicting scenes from the novel. The comics should either include dialogue, or captions beneath. All lines are taken directly from the book. (50 points) MUSIC MIX – create a soundtrack for the novel, and make me a copy. Choose 7-10 songs. Include cover art, artist credits, and a brief write up for each song explaining why you chose it. (75 points) NEWSPAPER ARTICLES – pick out newspaper/internet articles that have similar themes to your book. Include a paragraph for each article explaining how it is similar. Choose three articles. (50 points) PHOTO ESSAY – take pictures that tell the story of your book. For each picture, include a caption that briefly explains its significance. You will need about ten pictures for the whole book. (75 points) (If you get your pictures off the internet, it is only worth (50 points) TRUE/FALSE QUIZ – make up a true-false quiz for a section of your book. At least twenty questions. Make them specific and relevant to the section. (25 points) ADD A CHAPTER – write a new chapter for the book. This can be something that happens before the book starts, something that happens during the book, or something that happens after the book. (50 points) POLITICAL CARTOON – draw a political cartoon, commenting on the happenings of the book. Make it poignant, creative, and attractive. (25 points) MY STUFF POSTER – assume the persona of a character from the story and create a “my stuff” poster for that individual. (75 points) SCARLET LETTER – assume the persona of a character from the story and create a scarlet letter poster that includes the essay explanation for why the letter is appropriate. (50 points) PROUST QUESTIONNAIRE – assume the persona of a character from the story and create a proust questionnaire poster for that character.
