Although many important actions were undertaken by Theodore Roosevelt, the most
important were the initiation of the Northern Securities Case, the construction of the
Panama Canal , and the decision to run for re-election in 1912, because these measures
presented a challenge to the monopoly of the captains of industry, served as a potent
example of America’s newfound role in the world, and paved the way for the accession of
Woodrow Wilson. (2nd attempt)
Although there were many great presidents in American history, Theodore Roosevelt was
one of the greatest because of his accomplishments during and outside his presidency
including demonstrating America’s increasing military power, conservation of lands, and
overcoming his physical weakness as a boy to lead the “Rough Riders” as a man.
Although Theodore Roosevelt was a man of many accomplishments, his main three
accomplishements were beginning the trend of "trust-busting", leading the Progressive
party and establishing and maintaining national parks.
Although Theodore Roosevelt had many accomplishments throughout his political career,
he is mainly remembered because of his creation of the National Park Service and
conversationalist efforts, his “trust-busting” endeavors, and his support of acts that
affected the poor, such as the New York City Tenement Act.
Despite the many significant actions of President Theodore Roosevelt, Roosevelt was a
noteworthy President because of, his avocation of patriotism, his corollary to the Monroe
Doctrine including the use of the “Great White Fleet” and finally his contributions to
sanitation regulations and housing regulations as New York City Police Commissioner.
Although Theodore Roosevelt had many accomplishments throughout his life, I believe
that his most significant actions were his Conservation achievements, because he was able
to federally protect over 230 million acres of land, his “New Nationalism” speech,
because it showed his progressive ideas in aiding the underprivileged, and his persuasion
in passing the Hepburn Act, Meat Inspection Act, and Pure Food and Drug Act, because
they allowed federal regulation of business and factories which helped the country
immensely and still does today.
Although Roosevelt accomplished many feats both in and out of his presidential career,
his most significant actions were the expansion of naval supremacy and overseas
influence, his advocacy of conservation reform, and the changes made while the governor
of New York, because the navy established the U.S. as a world power, national
preservation protected America's natural resources, and civil improvements later became
the basis for domestic and economic polices, including the Square Deal.
Although Theodore Roosevelt was known as being forceful and for his “big stick”
mentality, his utilization of these traits allowed for a rich presidency because of the
completion of the panama canal under his watchful eye, his support for conservationism
and the reformation act and his reforms of the New York city police force as Police
commissioner.
Although Theodore Roosevelt’s life and career encompassed many significant actions, his
most important accomplishments were implementing “big stick diplomacy,” establishing
national parks and conservation policies, and leading the “Rough Riders” in the Cuban
War. These achievements cemented America’s reputation as a chief world power,
protected the nation’s priceless resources, and demonstrated his courageous “fighting
spirit” as a military leader.
