Summary: Throughout our reading of The Power of One, we have discussed
the power that people have over themselves and others. Peekay grows up
with a number of influences on his life. Your task in this essay is to prove
whether Peekay was more influenced by the positive experiences and
people in his life or by the negative.
Purpose: To inform and persuade why your viewpoint on the question is
more valid.
Role: Having read and discussed The Power of One, you are now an expert
on Peekay’s life.
Audience: A scholarly reader (Ms. Chaga)
Form: Five-paragraph formal essay—Introduction with thesis statement,
three body paragraphs with plot, interpretation, and analysis, and a
conclusion with evaluation.
