It was when someone had to have a limb removed that was seriously damaged. Gangrene- It refers to the death of body tissue due to lack of blood flow or a bacterial infection. It most commonly affects the extremities, including your toes, fingers, and limbs. Confederate- Is a united league, alliance, or conspiracy. Union- It was a name used to refer to the federal government of the United States, which was supported by the 20 free states and 5 border slaves states. Telegraph- The non-electric telegraph was invented by Claude Chappe in 1794. This system was visual and used semaphore, a flag based alphabet, and depended on a line of sight for communication. Sharecropper- A tenant farmer especially used in the southern United States who provided with credit for seed, tools, living quarters, and food, who works on land, and who receives and agreed share of value of the crop minus charges. Tenant Farmer - It replaced the slave-based agricultural system in the south. Bromine-It is an alternative to chlorine.
