You may use this remarkable video for a variety of purposes:
(Previous to showing the video you may want to ask students to research Steve
Jobs´ life. It is not essential but may be quite interesting for the class)
- Show it to class and discuss the ideas in it. (If you cannot show it, mail it to
your class)
- Ask class to copy all the if clauses included in Steve´s talk
- Ask class to take notes on the main events in his life, his
career, his health.
- Ask
students to pin point the remarkable turns of events
in Steve´s life!!!
- Ask students to say why his talk full of encouragement
for students´ future
- Ask them to explain why "There is no reason not to follow your heart"
- Advanced students could write an essay on that topic.
You may ask the following conditional questions:
What would have happened if Steve Jobs hadn’t dropped out of college?
What would have happened if Steve had never dropped in on the calligraphy
class in college?
What would have happened if he hadn’t been fired from Apple?
What significant products would we be missing if Steve’s cancer had finished
with his life?
What would have happened in the market with Microsoft, if Apple hadn’t
existed?
- You
surely will have other teaching ideas when watching the video,
maybe you can send them to us so we can send them to other teachers!
