HERO’S JOURNEY MINI-PROJECT Your creative challenge is to create a 3-part project that reflects your understanding of our study of the Hero’s Journey: One part of your project must focus on the beginning, one on the middle, and one on the return stages of the journey. Each part must include the required elements from that part of your Hero’s Journey Chart, and an explanation of how they fit into that part of your project. Choose a movie, comic book, novel, short story, or you may write your own story or script and chart out how the hero in that story goes through the hero’s journey. After you have finished with your personal choice, it is now your task to map out Buck’s journey has a hero in Call of the Wild. Your project should include BOTH your personal choice and Buck’s journey. Here are some options: Essay: Create a 3-part essay that explores someone’s journey as a hero, whether that person is fictional or real…it can be someone you know, too. Your essay should explore how the experiences of this hero relate to the specific required elements on your Chart. Story: Create a short story that traces a hero through the required Chart elements on his or her Hero’s Journey. Modify an existing story…you might introduce a different set of challenges, add a new ending, or explore more deeply into the hero’s inner feelings. Poetry: Create a poem, or a series of poems that reflect the stages (and required Chart elements) of the Hero’s Journey. Script: Create a short script that reflects the stages of the Hero’s Journey (and required Chart elements), either to be used as a play or a screenplay. Analysis: Create a 3-part film or book(s) analysis of the Hero’s Journey that reflects the stages of the Hero’s Journey (and required Chart elements) in that film or book(s). Characterization/Personification: Create three part visual project that includes the stages and required elements and that explains what the stages and elements are. o Some ideas: 3 masks, 3 paper plates, 3 small poster boards, 3-part diorama, …other idea? Check with me! Journal: Write a series of journal entries that trace someone (or you) through a personal Hero’s Journey; be sure to include the stages of the Hero’s Journey (and required Chart elements). Other…? Do you have another great creative idea? Check with Mrs.Bean! Your project should be neat, professional looking, well presented, and in a nicely finished form.
