Introduction to Improvisation: The goal is to encourage enthusiasm, playfulness, spontaneity and fun; and to enhance a student’s ability to focus. Introduction to Movement: Using imagination and music to free the body Introduction to Voice: The aim of the work is to rid the vocal instrument of tension, thus allowing fuller and more expansive expression in sound. Scene Study: Continued technique class where “…students obtain a foundation in the craft…through rehearsing and performing scenes from contemporary…theatre. Improvisation, sense memory, and emotional recall and other techniques will be employed…” Audition: The basics of “how to!” Learning that an audition is performance, and performance requires bold and definitive choices – in the work itself, and in the presentation of oneself. Audition & Marketing: Continued work (as stated above), but now incorporating audition choices with the absolute rudiment of marketing: Setting realistic and achievable goals. Introduction to the Camera: Scene Work for Television and Film: Combining the basic lessons taught in CAC’s Basic Commercial Course with the prime ideas purported in the Film & TV Intensive FRONT & CENTER for PERFORMING ARTS (Millburn, NJ) Creative Drama, Grades K-2 and 3-5: With age appropriate exercises in body movement, facial expression, singing and storytelling, the focus of these classes is to have fun, foster creativity and teach collaboration with others. Grades 6-8, Creative Drama: Designed to get young actors on their feet creating structured scenes in front of an audience, this fun and playful class will foster imagination, spontaneity and theatricality. Grades 9-12, Creative Drama: Improvisation is only the beginning for this exploration into the fundamentals of acting. By employing a variety of enjoyable games and techniques, the focus will be to make the craft less confusing by encouraging the student to bring his/her own truth to the imaginary circumstances onstage. Adult Acting: For the beginning actor, or the more advanced. A variety of techniques are taught to create an autonomous player – one who is capable of working sensorily as well as physically to explore him/herself and character. Adult Improvisation: Based on Viola Spolin’s theatre games and Keith Johnstone’s approach to Impro, the goal is to encourage enthusiasm, playfulness, spontaneity and fun. Further curricula structures available upon request. 3 ROBIN LANE TEACHER /DIRECTOR HIGHLIGHT on DANCE and MOVEMENT AREAS of EXPERTISE Movement for the Actor Fitness Training for the Actor Meditation Relaxation TEACHING EXPERIENCE: Movement Creative Acting Company, New York Movement for the Actor Performance Coaching in New York Success Strategies for the Actor Body by Robin, Inc., New York Personal Trainer and Fitness Counselor The NY Health & Racquet Club Aerobics, Sculpting, Waterworks, Pre-natal DANCE and MOVEMENT TRAINING New Actors Workshop, New York Feldenkries and Alexander Techniques New Actors Workshop, New York Movement with Beatrice Lees Phil Black’s Studios, New York Jazz University of Texas at Austin Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern University of Tel Aviv Yoga, Folk Dancing ADDITIONAL TRAINING Personal Trainer / Fitness Counselor AFAA certified Aerobic Instructor AFAA certified Moda Provocateur Fashion Show Cabaret The Club Side by Side by Sondheim 2002 - 04 Since 1992 Since 1992 1992 - 94 1994 - 95 1994 - 95 >1993 >1993 >1993 1992 1992 CHOREOGRAPHY University of Arizona for SAAF Circle in the Square Downtown, New York Center Stage, Austin The Laboratory Theatre, Austin 2008 1998 >1993 >1993 ACTOR / DANCER The Club (Johnny) South Pacific (Featured Dancer) Dames at Sea (Chorus) The Me Nobody Knows (Catherine) You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Lucy) The Boyfriend (Maisie) Center Stage, Austin Center Stage, Austin The Driskill Hotel, Austin The Laboratory Theatre, Austin The Acadia Hotel, Herzlia Pituach The Tzafta Club, Tel Aviv 4 >1993 >1993 >1993 >1993 >1993 >1993 ROBIN LANE TEACHER /DIRECTOR HIGHLIGHT on VOICE AREAS of EXPERTISE Voice for the Actor Relaxation TEACHING EXPERIENCE Creative Acting Company, New York Performance Coaching in New York Voice for the Actor Success Strategies for the Actor Since 2002 Since 1992 VOCAL TRAINING Actors Studio, New School University New Actors Workshop, New York University of Texas at Austin Kfar Shmaryahu, Israel Classical Voice with Dr. William Riley Voice with Andrea Haring Vocal Training for the Actor Private Coaching 1995 - 96 1994 - 95 > 1993 > 1993 MUSICAL PERFORMANCE New York Theatrical Community Choir Actor Studio MFA Choir MFA Recital The Club (Johnny) South Pacific (Chorus) Dames at Sea (Featured Singer) The Me Nobody Knows (Catherine) You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Lucy) The Boyfriend (Maisie) New York Actors Studio, New School University Actors Studio, New School University Center Stage, Austin Center Stage, Austin The University of Texas Student Union, Austin The Laboratory Theatre, Austin The Acadia Hotel, Herzlia Pituach The Tzafta Club, Tel Aviv 5 2003 - 04 1995 - 96 1996 > 1993 > 1993 > 1993 > 1993 > 1993 > 1993 ROBIN LANE TEACHER /DIRECTOR HIGHLIGHT on DESIGN AREAS of EXPERTISE The Director as Designer EDUCATION in DESIGN Actors Studio, New School University Teacher and Master Designer, Shawn Lewis Actors Studio, New School University Master Teacher, Tony Walton University of Texas at Austin Play Directing and Design with Francis Hodge 1997 - 98 1996 - 97 >1993 DESIGN in PRACTICUM Paul Campbell Hits the Big Time 2003 Creative Acting Company 1998 Circle in the Square Downtown, New York Circle in the Square Downtown, New York Circle in the Square Downtown, New York Circle in the Square Downtown, New York Circle in the Square Downtown, New York Cabaret The Hat Tiger Tail Rodenticide Master Harold and the Boys 1997 Actors Studio, New York Actors Studio, New York Actors Studio, New York Actors Studio, New York Actors Studio, New York Actors Studio, New York Actors Studio, New York The Stronger Migration The Hat “The Audition” (from The Good Doctor) Vanities Arrangement in Black and White Too Bad >1993 Scenes from Shakespeare Side by Side by Sondheim (Directed/Choreographed) 6 Theatre Room, Austin The Laboratory Theatre, Austin ROBIN LANE PROFESSIONAL, THEATRICAL CREDITS (Cont.)
