Antigone Acting Project 1. You and your team members will prepare to act out your assigned scene from Antigone. Assign a group leader from the people assigned to your group. This person is responsible for keeping the group on task and focused. Points are assigned for group “togetherness” on your rubric. 2. In order to make a good grade on this test, you will want to adhere to the rubric on the next page by doing the following: a. Make sure you and your group members have a thorough understanding of the background of the play. Read all of this site together: http://antigoneproject.890m.com/# b. Read over the Level 4 column on the rubric carefully and notice what’s required. Decide up front who will do what based on how you will be graded (ex, voice, etc.). c. Read over the Dramatis Personae or list of characters on the website in #3 to make sure you understand who does what. 3. Choose a scene/act from the play: http://records.viu.ca/~johnstoi/sophocles/antigone.htm i. I have divided these up by line numbers and by 7 groups of 3 people each. ii. Do not use the line numbers in brackets iii. Lines (1) 1-152, (2) 181-423, (3) 424-601, (4) 602-709, (5) 710-875, (6) 876-1097 (7) 1098-1284. iv. This will take us near the end of the play, and then we can read the end together. 4. Notice that props are required. For your prop, you are to make a Greek mask that would show the roles/facial expressions in your scene. I am all for creativity, but you have to act this one out. You will need a works cited page to accompany your play presentation showing the sites in proper form where you got your info from on how to build the mask. You can have time in class to make the mask. 5. Complete a themes PowerPoint. For your group’s scene only, complete the Antigone themes chart below this project link and place it into your PPT. You will discuss this after the acting of your scene to help the class understand your scene. The class will need to copy the themes and quotes. See next link for help. 6. Prepare and practice. Copy and paste the lines from your part of the play into a word doc. Clean it up so that it’s easy to see who will read what and how. a. Use the Internet and footnotes provided to help you understand what is happening in the play. b. Talk out what is happening; make sure all group members understand. c. Appoint your group leader to ask Mrs. R for help as needed. 7.
