In a well developed essay that follows the principles of
CSES, trace the development and progression of one of
Antigone’s major themes.
Here are the things I will be looking for in your Antigone theme essay:







Essay follows MLA formatting (i.e. correct margins, font, headers, citations and
documentation of sources, works cited, essay’s title, etc.)
Essay length a minimum of 4-6 FULL pages (NOT including your works cited
page)
Essay contains AT LEAST 6 citations (quotations) from Antigone that support the
theme you selected.
Essay clearly addresses the “so what?” question: Regarding the theme you
selected, what did Sophocles want his audience to know or to think about?
Essay has a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end.
Essay has an easily identifiable thesis statement. UNDERLINE YOUR THESIS.
It should be the last sentence in your introduction.
For your works cited: Antigone was a translated work found in a larger anthology
of writing – this one was kind of tricky so I “helped” you out. This citation should
go on your works cited page!!!
