Yeung Yuk Mui Spending days with beautiful scenery under abundant sunlight and fresh air is definitely one of the best experiences in life. My 40day trip in Sabah was filled with enjoyment and it was an unforgettable experience for me. On 3rd December, our classmates gathered in the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and at around 2 pm, we got on the ferry to Macau for the flight to Kota Kinabullu, our destination. That was really a harsh time for all of us because of the windy climate that day. The ferry was like on boiling water. Finally by noon, we arrived at Sabah airport! We then took the shuttle bus to Lavender Lodge- our purple hostel. On 4th December, we started our journey in this unfamiliar and mysterious city by visiting the mosque, then the Sabah Museum, which revealed the traditions and customs there. Afterwards came the amazing wetland. We spent the rest of the day there. It was really an unforgettable experience. Inspired by the area’s beauty and mysticism, all of us took numerous photos with the appealing twilight and the star-spangled sky with fireflies at night. The mountain ranges were linked with suspension brides. When we walked across the bridges, it was like we were flying between the tremendous trees. It was frightening but exciting. The last day was the shopping day, and we spent most of our time on shopping. In the morning, we were in the Sunday market, which was a market similar to the “Women Street” in Smiles on suspension bridge. MongKok. After spending lots of money on the tradition snacks and handicrafts, we took the motor boat to the islands at the nearby harbour. The islands were very peaceful and with breathtaking view. From the field trip, not only can we have lots of fun, we have enriched our knowledge also. With the detailed explanation of our two geography teachers, Mr. Tse and Ms Lee, our geography knowledge has been consolidated. For example, we could see different features of the tropical rainforest and different landforms in real. We can feel the impact of the marvelous our world on us. I might have packed everything back to Hong Kong, however, I am sure my heart was left in Sabah. 53
