“Personal Hero”

In this essay, you are tasked with identifying your personal hero/heroine and discussing
how he or she fits the archetypal mold of “The Hero’s Journey.” While your hero is a
personal choice and you are encouraged to be original in your choice of a hero, I do have
some limitations. The hero MUST BE human. The hero CAN BE real or fictional
and CAN BE dead or alive. The hero CANNOT BE a superhero, an alien, a hybrid.
The hero CANNOT have supernatural, miraculous, or magical powers. If you have
questions about your choice, please see me.
Remember: I will be evaluating your writing skills and your knowledge of “The Hero’s
Journey.” At a minimum, your essay should address the heroic journey and deeds of your
hero and meet the basic form requirements of an essay (Introduction w/Thesis, Body
Paragraph(s), and a conclusion).
