DNA Structure 6+1 Writing
Directions: You will be writing a three paragraph essay. You may only use your notes, NO TEXTBOOK. The first
paragraph should explain what DNA is, what DNA stands for, where you can find it in a cell and why it is so important. The
second paragraph should explain some of the history of the discovery of DNA (use your discovery of DNA Tree Map and
mention Watson, Crick, Wilkins and Franklin). The third paragraph should explain the structure of DNA. The third
paragraph should be the longest and most detailed. In your third and final paragraph, thoroughly describe the structure of
DNA: what makes up the sides of the DNA, what makes up the middle of the DNA, the names of what makes up the
middle, explain the base pairing rules, Chargaff’s rule and what types of bonds join the sides and middle of the DNA
together.
