Extend Concept Map: DNA Structure
Instructions:
1. Cut out the word blocks below. This is the vocabulary you will be focusing on in your
reading.
2. Individually, read the section about the structure of DNA in the textbook and
study the graphics. Take about five minutes.
3. With your partner, create a concept map of the structure of DNA by rearranging
the word blocks to show how they relate to each other. Refer to the reading as you
need to and to check your final concept map.
4. When your group agrees on the organization of the map, signal your teacher to
come and review your work.
5. Once the teacher approves your organization, recreate the concept map in your own
notebook.
6. In your notebook, use your concept map to write a description of DNA structure in
your own words.
