Beowulf and Sir Gawain Essay: After finishing our look at Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, it’s time for a writing assessment. Choose one of the options below: 1. Define what a hero is using Beowulf and Sir Gawain as models of heroism. Your definition essay should revolve around at least 3 similar characteristics that both characters possess and that you deem necessary to be considered a hero. 2. Compare and contrast the two characters, Beowulf and Sir Gawain. Your compare and contrast essay should revolve around at least 3 characteristics on which you compare and contrast both characters for your organization style. 3. Compare and contrast the two cultures, Anglo-Saxon and Medieval. You must address the ideas of comitatus/chivalry, the cultural values of the time, and religion in your compare and contrast essay. You are welcome to address other ideas/characteristics in your essay. Your essay organization should be built around 3 characteristics on which you compare and contrast the two cultures.
