「傷健同心」馬拉松慈善音樂會 暨「圓滿奧運精神 愛與夢想同行」創作比賽頒獎典禮 視障兒童家長資源中心顧問委員會主席郭顥澧先生謝辭 Vote of thanks by Mr. Edward Kwok At Marathon Charity Concert cum Essay Writing & Radio Drama Competition Award Presentation Ceremony at Metro Plaza on 21st Feb., 2009 Mrs. Cartland, Miss. Ng, Ms. Mak, Ms. Yu, Distinguished Guests, Volunteers & Members, Ladies & Gentlemen, As Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Parents Resource Centre for Visually Impaired Children, I am very happy to thank you for the support you have given to the Centre and your presence today to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The Centre has made significant progress over the past 10 years with both its number of members and annual programme activities increasing by more than 200%. Such improvements would not have been possible without your active participation and the generous support of many other earnest donors and volunteers. We are, in particular, most grateful to the staunch support we have received from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Sun Hung Kai Properties, and the supporting organizations of today’s programme: the Sun Hung Kai Volunteer Team, the Successful Piano Co. and Energy @ Candy’s Music. A special thanks also goes to the participants of the Essay Writing and Radio Drama Competition with a total of 469 entries. They have shown good understanding of persons with disabilities and publicly supported their equal participation in sport activities to demonstrate the need of equal opportunities for all. We are also grateful to Miss. Wong Wai Yee and Mrs. Yeung Kam Hung Chi, who are retired school teachers, for screening the hundreds of Chinese essays before they are submitted to the adjudicators for a detailed assessment. And we are of course most thankful to the adjudicators, Mrs. Elaine Yue, Mrs. Ellen Yip, Ms. Chea Shuk Mui, Dr. Vincent Kwan, Dr. Kenneth Sin, Mr. Fung Chi Fung and Mr. Chong Chan Yau who dedicated lots of time and effort in the selection of the winners. Celebrities who can warm our hearts and lift up our spirits are usually what we expect for a celebration activity. Today we have the distinguished celebrities Miss. Wong Ming Yan, the Angel of Arts for the Disabled Association of Hong Kong, and the renowned song composer and singer, Mr. Tsui Wai Yin, to be our celebrities, and they would perform for us. Thank you Miss. Wong and Mr. Tsui. As expressed by Mrs. Cartland, the Essay Writing & Radio Drama Competition and the Marathon Charity Concert have created more opportunities for the full participation and integration of the visually impaired and the building of a more harmonious and caring community. It would not have been possible without your presence and participation in the musical performance today, and the support from the sponsors, adjudicators and volunteers. So, friends, may I, once again, on behalf of the Parents Resource Centre for Visually Impaired Children, extend my gratitude to your unfailing support. Would all of you join me in giving a round of applause to all the supporters to the event to express our deepest appreciation. Your continuous support, I believe, would provide the driving force required for the Centre to grow and to develop better services to benefit more persons with visual impairment in our community at large. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy today’s programme.
