Please write an essay of 500 words or less exploring one of the following topics as fully
as possible. Be sure and copy the topic question you have chosen at the top of the page
you submit with your application packet. Good luck!
1. What immigration reforms have been proposed to stem the flow of
unaccompanied child migrants from Central America, and which would be most
effective? Explain.
2. How can the student loan debt crisis be solved?
3. Veterans in America are challenged in receiving services in VA hospitals. What
reforms could be put in place to improve services to Veterans?
4. Choose an Oregon ballot measure for the November 2014 election and predict
and explain the outcome.
The essay addressing the topic you have selected must be included with your
application packet for the U.S. Senate Youth Program scholarship. Failure to send all
required material will void your submission. This application packet must be postmarked
no later than Friday, October 17, 2014 and mailed to:
