The Bubble Method ‐ for finding percentages of any number. =10% A =1% ÷ 10 =100% 800 ÷ 10 8 80 ÷ 2 ÷ 2 ÷ 10 =50% 400 40 =5% Bubble method Find 30% of 800 From the bubbles find: 25% = 200 5% = 40 Therefore 30% = 240 ÷ 2 =25% 200 Traditional method Find 30% of 800 30 x 800 100 = 240 How to use your own percentage bubble

Start at bubble A and enter a value 2
Work your way around the bubbles following the arrows and enter the values Note: The ÷ 10 calculations are horizontal and the ÷ 2 calculations are vertical. Another method Find 30% of 800 100% = 800 (÷ both by 10) 10% = 80 (x both by 2) 20% = 160 Therefore 30% = 80 + 160 = 240 This resource has been adapted from one found on the TES Website (and extra information has been added)
