SOULSIDE are an exceptional, highly experienced 10-piece functions band, performing
to private and corporate clients alike in the South West of England and nationally. Led
by a charismatic and gifted male lead vocalist, supported by two talented female
vocalists and seven seasoned musicians who really know how to groove!
Specialising in well-chosen classic soul, motown, funk and disco material, peppered
with the occasional modern classic, and delivered with authority, passion and
verve.
The band’s professional ethos, wealth of experience and friendly, helpful
approach ensure that, no matter what the venue or occasion, the show will always be
perfectly pitched to meet the client’s needs. Repeat business and personal
recommendations feature strongly in the band’s ongoing programme of events.
Fully contained with a dedicated sound & lighting engineer and the band owns a
comprehensive suite of professional spec and PAT-certified audio and lighting
equipment, and public liability insurance.

Performance
Our show takes in the best of the Soul, Motown, Funk and Disco genres, errin g
always on the side of classy and the band play 100% live; no samples, no
cheating, just the excitement of real, live music!
To give a flavour, our first set would normally include well known classic Soul &
Motown songs from the era of James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin & The
Four Tops and Northern Soul songs from the likes of Chuck Wood & Jackie Wilson.
The second set would then move up another gear with well known 70s/80s Disco &
Funk songs from the likes of Sister Sledge, Chic and The Jackson 5 then finally moving
up yet another gear to include a couple of modern popular songs from artists such as
Duffy and Cee Lo Green adding a little of our own 'soul' to them which are
guaranteed to get any remaining audience out of their seats and dancing!
A normal performance consists of 2 x 60 minute sets plus encores but a show
can be tailored to any individual event.

Audio/Visual Effects
Unlike most other bands who manage their own sound onstage we have a
dedicated sound & lighting engineer off stage. This means that he can control
the sound levels during the show ensuring that the quality, balance and overall
volume are best suited to the audience. In addition he also controls the on
stage lighting using a professional computer controlled light mixing console to
dynamically change the lighting during the performances to give the best
possible visual effects.
An added benefit is a seamless, slick transition between the live show and preperformance/interval/after-show recorded music provided by a ‘state of the
art’ music laptop ensuring that the dance floor always stays filled.
The band is fully self contained using a prospec Mackie PA System capable of servicing
venues ranging from the intimate to the
very large.
We have a complete range of overhead and
floor mounted lights as well as additional
dance ‘smart’ lighting controlled using a
professional light control mixer.
All of our equipment is regularly tested and
hold a portable Appliance Test Certificate
and the band have full Public Liability
Insurance to the value of £5,000,000.

LOGISTICS
It will normally take 90 mins to set up from arrival on site to completion of
sound check however, this could be shorter/longer dependent on access to
the performance area and a normal time for tear down of 45 mins.
In advance of the event we will either carry out a site survey or liaise with the
client to ensure that the setup and sound checking is programmed into the
event itinerary so as to give as little disruption as possible.
The band are very flexible in the way that they lay themselves out at a venue
and will adapt to most shaped performance areas however, for planning
purposes and for maximum performance impact a preferred performance
area of 5 x 3 m (5m frontage and 3m depth) is required (but not essential).
For the best audio and visual the sound/lighting engineer will require to have a
small space (1m 2) ideally positioned along one of the walls within the audience
area not more than 30m from the performance area (as above not essential).
Events requiring power from an external power generator need to be able to
provide a minimum of 11 amps for power to the band and its lighting.
Due to the numerous costume changes during the performances a band
changing room is required preferably close to the performance area.

PRICING
Our pricing structure is variable dependant on several factors including distance to
venue, arrival and departure times and any special services required eg. bespoke
clothing, extended sets etc.
For this reason quotations are provided on an individual basis for each event however,
our rates are highly competitive in line with the quality and scale of service that we
provide; we genuinely believe that a show of similar quality will not easily be obtained
cheaper than ourselves.
