EBBY has a 11 Members Executive Board (President, Secretary general, and 9 members) elected every 3 years. The Board has ad-

hoc working groups on specific projects, and 2 committees: a large one (27 members to do the first selection for the Suzanne
Mubarak Awards for excellence in books and IT applications for children and young adults.) a higher one of 12 headed by Mrs.
Mubarak for the final selections.
Yes, our NS is affiliated to (Integrated Care Society) it gives us working and meeting space, and basic financial support.
Yes, we have an office and one paid secretarial officer, and our executive officer who is a volunteer.
We have at least 1 business meeting a month.

Membership
No, we have no organizations as members
EBBY has only individual members, they are about 150 members, they participate in the NS activities by invitation or by being elected as members of working committees.

Our members are those are concerned with children's book.
Approximated Percentages are: 10 % teachers, 35 % authors, 20 % illustrators, 30 % publishers, 5 % students.
1.4.8 As mentioned above EBBY has only individual members.
1.4.9 We keep in touch with our members 4 times a year, through
meetings and working committees.
2. FUNDING
2.1
Our average annual budget is 36.000 US$ approx., it's increasing .
2.2 Sources of income
2.2.1 No, there isn't.
2.2.2 No, we don't receive financial support from individual sponsors or
donors.
2.2.3 EBBY has a semi-independent financial status, it has a sub account under
the Integrated Care Society our umbrella organization, the support we
receive is 7.000 US$ for salaries, activities, stationary and IBBY dues.
2.2.4 Yes we receive grants from other organization of about 30.000 US$
for The Suzanne Mubarak Awards.

Our best strategy to raise money for our NS is to coordinate our efforts for specific projects with interested partners. Seminars – workshops – prizes are co-funded and sometimes totally covered by publishers , donor’s agencies .We study the project , outline it execution evaluate all possible expenses and then go for partnerships. We are actively perusing grants from international donors for training and monitoring.

3. THE NATIONAL SECTION’S ACTIVITIES
3.1
Main activities
3.1.1 Yes Our NS has organized an international symposium in collaborative
with Public Affairs Section at American Embassy in Cairo,
3.1.2 Yes, members of our NS represented EBBY at national conference.
3.1.3 Yes, our NS organizes seminars at local level for young children's stories
writers & illustrators, also it holds training seminars and workshops
with other entities working in the same fields of interest ( universities –
ministries – other NGO’s – international and national institutions ) .
3.1.4 No, our NS doesn't Organize or host exhibition, but NS participate in
23rd Cairo international children's book fair exhibiting the
published books of winning young writers who are published for first
time, in addition to IBBY & our NS publications, Also our NS
participated in "Nami Island International Children Book Festival" in
South Korea
3.1.5 Yes, we administer every year The Suzanne Mubarak Award for children
books, computer programs and internet applications for children.
3.1.6 Yes, we run a specific library it is now located in ICS library in
Maadi .
3.1.7 For the years 2007-2008 EBBY continued to develop the campaign
“ READ TO YOUR CHILD ” which is now a national campaign that is a
part of the “ READING FOR ALL ” Campaign in Egypt.

Communication
3.2.1 Our NS hasn't an independent website but has a link on the Integrated
Care Society website, its URL is " www.ics.org.eg
", we are in the process
of designing an independent site.
3.2.2
Our NS has a regular yearly newsletter in Arabic it is called " adwaa ala al-magles el-masry lkotob al atfaal = Lights on EBBY " publishers, writers, illustrators and our members receive it, it is not available online.
3.2.3 Yes Our NS issues every year a list of recommended acquisitions of
children reading & A.V materials for libraries on the national level.

Our national section works with national media to promote our own activities especially The Suzanne Mubarak Award & “ Read To Your
Child ” campaign.

3.3
Cooperation at a national level
3.3.1 IBBY members are represented individually and as representative of
IBBY in committees on the national and international level 10members of
EBBY are members of the children cultural committee of the Egyptian
High Council of Culture, they are active members of all conferences both
local and international.
We have four members are members of steering committee for the
National Book Program, The National Book Program is the longest and
most ambitious program providing library books to more than 40 thousand
public schools from KG1 to the final secondary year, It is a join effort
with the Ministry of Education and funded by an American grant,
3.3.2 There is no NGO's in Egypt that focuses specifically on children reading
and publishing culture, but many NGO's in our country have reading as
one of their activities we have through the " Reading for All " and " Read
to your child " campaign established an excellent network of contacts we
do under ICS umbrella and its libraries provide books, training, seminars
and new programs.
3.3.3 Yes we do collaborate with any agency or NGO that seeks to work with
us and profit from our experience.
4. COOPERATION WITH IBBY
4.1. International activities in cooperation with IBBY
Congresses and General Assemblies

Our NS organizes activities in schools, libraries and cultural institutions such as discussions, meetings with writers and publishers, and send message to the public through media

We disseminate information about the ICBD via posters and holding symposium during Cairo International Children's Book Fair and our function with other NGO's.

IBBY Awards and projects

Yes, we presented a nomination for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the Egyptian writer Fatima Al-Madool .

Yes, we presented a nomination for the IBBY Honour List, the titles
which have been nominated were “Ayn Ekhtafa Akhe Al- Daynasorat?"
for the quality of its writing by Amal Farah, and " Al Kanz " for
the quality of its illustrations by Reem Hiba.

4.2 Cooperation with other National Sections
4.2.1 EBBY is involved in regional cooperation with other NS requiring
information or any exchange (Korea- Lebanon – Kuwait ).
4.2.2 EBBY has cooperated with other institutions in any country working in
the same field, (ex Centre de Promotion du livre de jeunesse – France,
( ACCU )..
4.2.3 Yes we exchange newsletters and information with other NS.
4.2.4 We think that language barriers are one of the main obstacles for
exchange and understanding among national section
