Manitoba Sheep Show & Sale August 23rd and 24th - 2013 Rivers Rec Complex, Curling Rink, Rivers, Manitoba The Manitoba Sheep Show and Sale is sponsored by the Manitoba Sheep Association Inc. Rules & Regulations Entries must be received by August 3, 2013. Required fees must accompany entries. All entries received by this date will be in the catalogue. ALL PUREBRED ENTRIES must send in a registration paper or a photocopy of same. Registration paper must be received before the Show to sell as purebred. ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE C.S.I.P TAGS ENTRY FEES: PUREBRED - Includes Wool and Hair Breeds (Sold individually) - MSA Members and out-of-province producers $15.00/ each + GST -show only animals $10.00/each + GST PEN OF TWO – yearling ewe/ ewe lambs (Commercial only ) -MSA Members and out-of-province producers $20.00/pen PEN OF FIVE – yearling ewe/ ewe lambs (commercial Only) - MSA Members and Out-of-province producers $30.00/pen + GST +GST JACKPOT EWE LAMB (Commercial or Purebred) (prize money awarded) -MSA Members and Out-of –province producers $20.00/each +GST JACKPOT MARKET LAMB (Commercial or Purebred) Open to ewe lambs or weathers only (prize money awarded) - MSA Members and Out-of-province producers $20.00/each +GST ALL CHAMPION ANIMALS AND PENS WILL RECEIVE A BANNER YOUTH & 4-H SHOW $20 Entry Fee (covers penning/bedding/set-up) Classes mature ewe, yearling ewe, ewe lamb, showmanship (prizes $20, $1, $5) and market lamb (prize $30, $25, $20, $15, $10) SALES COMMISSION: Purebred Rams & Purebred Ewes Commercial Ewes 8% + GST 6% + GST FLOOR PRICE: Each breeder may place a reserved bid with the auctioneer prior to sale time. AGE CATEGORIES: 1. Junior lambs are born January 1st, 2012 or later 2. Senior lambs –milk teeth- born September 1st 2011 to December 31st, 2011 3. Yearling Animals – 2 teeth, 2011 and after 4. Mature animals born after January 1, 2009. LENGTH OF WOOL: Animals must have less than 1 inch of wool to be shown; except wool breeds, which may be shown in full fleece. There will be a shearer on site. Animals will be sheared at the discretion of the culling committee. SHOW TO SELL: All animals must show to sell. All purebreds must be registered and legibly tattooed. ALL CANADIAN SHEEP BREEDER’S ASSOCIATION REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES (ONE FOR EACH ANIMAL) PROPERLY SIGNED FOR TRANSFER, MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE SALE COMMITTEE PRIOR TO THE SHOW IF NOT SENT IN AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. SHOW ONLY: Animals can be entered to show; only if the same/greater number of animals are entered to show and sell ANIMAL HEALTH: A health certificate issued by Health of Animals Branch, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is optional. All animals will be inspected by the Culling Committee. Reasons for rejection by the Culling Committee include BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: 1. Abscess 2. Poor testicle development 3. Sheath rot 4. Sore mouth 5. Pink eye 6. Evidence of external parasite 7. Unsound mouth 8. A condition score of 2 or less 9. A condition score of 5 or more Note: All animals are sold as physically sound on the day. Culling will take place on Friday evening. SUBSTITUTIONS: Substitutions are allowed to a maximum of two (2) per breed. ( However, substitutions must respect the ratios indicated in the sale quota above). Substitutions may by made on purebred junior lambs commercial and junior entries at NO EXTRA COST. INSPECTION OF ANIMAL I.D. FOR SALE: The tattoo letters must be easily read and coincide exactly with the registration papers or the animal will be rejected from the purebred sale. All animals must have C.S.I.P.tags TRANSFERS: After the sale, MSA will send the transferred registration pedigrees to the purchaser and, for this service, the necessary transfer fee will be deducted from the consigner’s sale proceeds. STALL CARDS: Cards will be provided for the sheep and must be displayed. ANIMALS ON THE GROUNDS: The only animals allowed on the grounds will be Show and Sale entries. Animals that have been previously purchased and are on site for transit will be allowed, at the discretion of the Sale Committee. ARRIVAL OF ANIMALS All animals must be on the grounds by 6 pm on Friday August 23rd, entries will be allowed to unload after 3pm on Friday.
