wrinkles, helps improve the thickness of the skin, and helps reduce skin discoloration.
PentaxylTM features the following active ingredients:
1. Palmitoyl-pentapeptide (Matrixyl): binds to receptors on dermal fibroblasts and
triggers the synthesis of two types of collagen, fibronectin, and glycosaminoglycans;
this action helps thicken the skin by rebuilding the collagen matrix in the dermis.
2. Acetyl-hexapeptide-3 binds to receptors on nerve cells that can act to weaken facial muscles and
helps block catecholamine (adrenalin and noradrenalin) release; this helps reduce the depth of
wrinkles on the face caused by the use of facial muscles, especially in the forehead area and
around the eyes. It also helps reduce the appearance of skin aging that can be caused by
excessive catecholamine release.
3. Bearberry (Uva ursi) and licorice extracts help inhibit the enzyme tyrosinase in epidermal cells, and,
as a result, can act to prevent melanin pigment production. This can lead to reduced splotches of
discoloration in the facial skin and an overall evening of the skin's appearance.
