Luscious Watercolor Workshop

Hot press watercolor paper- you may want more than one sheet
Professional grade watercolors in small tubes -bring any that you have to experiment with
two mixtures that I often use are: Windsor & Newton - Aureolin, Ultramarine, Crimson Lake and Cobalt Cadmium Scarlet
and Indian Yellow
collage materials and matte medium to apply them
brushes for applying medium
watercolor brushes
painting board to tape your paper to, acrylic is recommended
painter's tape
4-5 small jars with lids to mix your paints (you might want to try a few paint mixtures)

Color Theory - All Levels

Materials to make color swatches, lots of color swatches! Swatches will be cut down to approximately 1 to 2 inches
square. Swatches can be made from items such as:
o magazines
o construction/colored papers
o paint chips
o paint your own (acrylic paint is recommended for this)
Favorite medium for making color images. Could be any of the following:
o pastels
o crayons
o watercolors
o acrylics
Paper/surface medium for mounting color swatches and for creating a color image. Some examples would be:
o watercolor paper
o canvas paper
o illustration board
Glue/Rubber Cement

Discovering Identity in Your Work - All Levels

Students should come prepared to work in whatever mediums that they feel comfortable with, but should remain open to
changing and experimenting with different materials. Although some various materials will be available in the studio,
individual students will supply all of their own materials and should arrive with a surface that can be used for the final
project.

Heirloom Journal with Plaster Cover - All Levels
2 Day Workshop - Limited to 15

$50 Materials fee paid to instructors on first day of workshop (provides journal making materials)

Students bring:
Collage elements - papers, ephemera, a few photocopies of photos (4x6) and or original photos, your favorite acrylic paint
colors and a few different sized brushes, pens, markers and pencils for journaling, and regular gel medium.
Instructors provide a $50 Supply Kit, including:
3 22x30” pieces of Fabriano Artistico 300lb.cold press water color paper
2 pre-cut, sanded wood substrates for covers, with holes and canvas straps
plaster for the journal cover

2yds of mercerized cotton which could yield up to 24 10x10" squares,
Procion dyes for cotton and fixer,
Setacolor paints, which flow like dye but heat sets with an iron
Jacquard textile paints for thicker applications of paint
linoleum for hand carved blocks,
freezer paper for stencils
thiox and scrub bleach, bubble wrap, sponges, etc. for discharge and paint application.
Students are encouraged to bring:
