This theory-based entry-level unit standard is for people who
work in the glass processing or glazing sectors of the glass
industry.
People credited with this unit standard are able to use selected
references to find and interpret definitions of glass industry
terms, and interpret standard symbols and abbreviations used
in the glass industry.

Definition
Worksite requirements – refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include – company specifications and procedures, work
instructions, manufacturer’s specifications, product quality specifications, legislative
requirements

In the context of this unit standard, selected references are those documents or parts
of documents identified as standard references by the industry.
New Zealand Standards (NZS)
NZS 4223 Parts 1 and 2:1985 Code of practice for glazing in buildings;
NZS 4223.3:1999 Glazing in buildings - Human impact safety requirements;
NZS 4223.4:2008 Glazing in buildings - Wind, dead, snow and live actions.
Australian and New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS)
AS/NZS 4666:2012 Insulating glass units;
AS/NZS 4667:2000 Quality requirements for cut-to-size and processed glass;
AS/NZS 4668:2000 Glossary of terms used in the glass and glazing industry.

Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA,
before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses
of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
Requirements for consent to assess and an outline of the moderation system that applies
to this standard are outlined in the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR). The
CMR also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing
to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors
and assessors, and special resource requirements.
