People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of plastics used in glazing. Literature produced by the manufacturers of glazing plastic products. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of plastics used in glazing. Evidence requirements 1.1 Glazing plastics are identified in terms of their properties as alternatives to glass. Range 1.2 includes but is not limited to – acrylic, polycarbonate; polyvinyl chloride (PVC) acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), glassreinforced plastic. Types of coating and cleaning methods suitable for glazing plastics are described with reference to their durability. Range includes but is not limited to – scratch resistance, ultraviolet (UV) resistant.
