Nitrogen Generator Model: PL-3800 User Manual Nitrogen Generator User Manual Brief Introduction: Nitrogen is a highly stable inert gas not easily affected by heat or cold. Its use ensures stability of tire pressure thus improving steering and traction control and decreasing overall fuel consumption while increasing safety. It will also increase tire and wheel life since it reduces oxidation from within. The N2 Generator using the PSA (Pressure Swing Absorption) method with CMS (Carbon Molecule Sieve) is a new type of air separation equipment. By using compressed air as raw material and a carbon molecule sieve for absorption, the PSA process utilizes the different speeds of diffusion by O2 and N2 in the carbon molecule sieve to separate O2 and N2. Advantage of Inflating Tires With Nitrogen When inflating tires with N2 the vehicle will exhibit less vibration from tire contact with the road because the inherent stability of nitrogen will absorb and dampen tire bounce. The vehicle will drive more smoothly and tire noise will be reduced. Regular compressed air in the tires can include water, gas, oil and other contaminants so rubber elements can be negatively affected. Tire pressure can also easily be altered by contraction when cooled or expansion when heated. That will negatively affect both tire wear and handling of the vehicle. Because nitrogen is a much more stable gas it will expand and contract much less with temperature change thus giving a more stable feel and consistent traction. Also nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules reducing the natural leakage from tires. Feature: 1. PSA Nitrogen equipment features a high nitrogen purity and low dew point. 2. Automatically supplies N2 when tank runs low. Once up to preset pressure, the equipment will stop producing N2. 3. High quality control valve: Excellent imported special pip air motion valve ensures stable and reliable running of the equipment. 4. Imported carbon membrane sieve: It features high capacity of absorption, high resistance to pressure and long life. 5. Good stability: The program is controlled by a microprocessor that ensures N2 purity and flow as well as long-term stability. 6. High reliability: During process of pressure balance and increase, the air velocity on the absorption tower is near zero. The molecular sieve has almost no wear and tear. 1 Nitrogen Generator User Manual Technical Parameter: Air pressure: 8-10kg/cm2 Air consumption: 0.36m3/min N2 production: 2.0-3.5m3/h N2 purity: 95~99.5% Pressure of N2 production: 7-9kg/cm2 Power: AC220V/50Hz Package:(CM): 64(W) × 47(D) × 138(H) Weight: 63kg Application range: motorcycle, car, light truck. High efficiency compressor pre-treat the compressed air to remove all contaminants down to 0.1 micron. 2. Air entering the generator consists of 21% O2 and 78% N2. 3. The gas separation process adsorbs O2 over N2 using carbon molecular sieve (CMS). At high pressures the CMS has a greater affinity for O2, CO2. and water vapor than it does at low pressures. 4. By raising and lowering the pressure within the CMS bed, all contaminants are captured and released. This process allows N2 to pass through as a product gas at pressure. The depressurize phase of the CMS releases the adsorbed O2 and other contaminant gas to the atmosphere. In this set, the purification of N2 is 95-99.5%. 5. Start to inflate N2 to tire. 2 Nitrogen Generator User Manual Installation And Preparation: Ⅰ. Requirement a) The machine needs to be placed in well-ventilated area of the workshop with no noxious or explosive gas in the air. b) To ensure good N2 production and long useful life of the machine, the input should be from an oilless compressor. It is important to check the inline filter periodically. c1) Output pressure of compressor is 8.0~10kg/cm2, and N2 production is ≥ 0.6L/min. c2) During the period of inflator running, it releases a large quantity of O2, so the inflator should be placed in the workshop away from sparks, flames or other ignition sources. d) The power receptacle should be in a dry area and the connective distance between compressor and inflator should not exceed 6M. e) In case of full load operation or inflation of high pressure tires, it is recommended to equip with outer N2 container and add-pressure device. Ⅱ. Connection Ⅲ. Step of Operation Re: N2 purity meter is an analog device for display of reading. 3 Nitrogen Generator User Manual a) Connect outlet hose of oil less compressor to air inlet of generator, and inlet pressure is 8.0~10kg/ cm2. b) Turn on AC220v/50-60Hz/1Ph, start generator and then the two inner adsorbing towers conduct inflate and deflate alternatively. c) As for first use of N2 generator and, because the inner N2 tank is empty the generator will needs to work for 15 min to produce N2, and N2 purity will be up to 95~99.5%, only after that start use of the unit to inflate tires with N2. d) When N2 pressure of inner tank is up to 9kg/ cm2, generator will stop and operating indicator will turn off. When N2 pressure of inner tank is down to 7kg/ cm2, generator will start to produce N2 and operating indicator will comes on. Ⅲ. Connection of Vacuum Device and Tire a) Connect compressed air inlet to oil less compressor; connect N2 inlet to N2 outlet of generator; connect inflate/vacuum valve to tire. b) Open compressed air inlet, then turn N2 inflate/vacuum switch to the vacuum position. c) Upon tire vacuum is complete, turn the switch to the position of N2 inflating. 4 Nitrogen Generator User Manual Open the switch of N2 outlet (on the side of machine), then open N2 inlet to inflate N2 to tire. d) Close N2 inlet, observe the pressure of tire by pressure gauge. f) If the tire fill with air, that it need to be vacuum firstly. If refill the tire in which exist N2, that just directly inflate N2. Note: When first inflating a tire, in order to obtain N2 purity (up to 95%), you need to follow the process below: Vacuum → N2 inflating; Discharge → N2 inflating Ⅳ. Vacuum the air using vacuum & inflating gun: 1. Screw off the inner valve of tire to discharge the air, then tighten the inner valve on the tire again. 2. Clap the chuck to the valve of tire, and screw off the discharge knob of inflating gun, then press the trigger to discharge the residue air in the tire. After two minutes, the tire is vacuum thoroughly. 3. Tighten the discharge knob of inflating gun to start inflate. Ⅴ. Inflating the air of Nitrogen: Clap the chuck to the valve of tire, then press the trigger to inflate the air. Notice: 1. To avoid the leakage, need to tighten the chuck to the valve of tire. 2. To avoid the leakage, need to tighten the discharge knob, not to lose the O ring in the knob. When inflate the Nitrogen, need to use the N2 hose. When inflate the air, need to use air hose. 5 Nitrogen Generator User Manual Please remember: For initial use: 1. Firstly, switch on the machine, then connect the air source to the compressor, N2 machine. 2. To discharge the residue non-purify N2, need to open the outlet of N2 a bit for 15 min. Then close this outlet. (This outlet switch is on the side of machine). 3. Start to normal operation to generate the N2 . For normal use: Firstly, switch on the power of machine, then connect the air source. When finish the operation, need to cut off the air source, then turn off the power. Daily Maintenance: Ⅰ. For Compressor: 1. Before compressor’s operation, please read the user guide. 2. Periodically check the purity of air source normally is one time per month. Ⅱ. For N2 Generator: 1. Avoid any denudation of paint coating or distortion of case caused by hit. Damage to the case can result in damaging the microprocessor controller. 2. Never flush the inflator with water. 3. Machine should be away from water source to avoid any corrosion caused by moisture. 4. Avoid dust accumulating on the machine, wipe the control panel and case with a soft cloth often. 5. Frequently check for leakage of hose connections (using soapy water). a) Frequently check that the valve is working normally. b) Excess humidity will result in shortening inflator life. It is necessary to empty the water in filter of inflator. 6 Nitrogen Generator User Manual Trouble shooting chart Malfunction Pressure rise is slow Cause Solve Measure 1.
