The IMPSD (LiSMIDoS) Agreement
concluded in Gdańsk, 24 November 2010, between
Faculty of Biology of University of Gdańsk, further referred to as “Faculty of Biology”,
represented by Prof. Dariusz Szlachetko PhD hab., Dean of the Faculty of Biology,
Faculty of Chemistry of University of Gdańsk, further referred to as “Faculty of Chemistry”,
represented by Prof. Andrzej Wiśniewski PhD hab., Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry,
Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of University of Gdańsk, further referred to
as “Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics”, represented by Prof. Adam Majewski
PhD hab., Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics,
and
Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology University of Gdańsk-Medical University of
Gdańsk, further referred to as “Faculty of Biotechnology”, represented by Prof. Ewa
Łojkowska PhD hab., Dean of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology,
§1
The agreement covers the participation of the four aforementioned Faculties in the conduct
and operation of Life Sciences and Mathematics Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies
(LiSMIDoS), further referred to as “Doctoral Studies”.
§2
Doctoral Studies are a part of the educational offer of all aforementioned Faculties.
§3
Students of the Doctoral Studies are granted faculty PhD scholarships in the number
determined by the deans of the aforementioned Faculties. In case of students commencing
their doctoral studies in the 2010/2011 academic year, the scholarships will be funded from
the Human Capital Programme entitled: “We educate the best – comprehensive career
advancement programme for PhD students, young doctors and academic staff of the
University of Gdańsk”, under Task 2: “Life Science and Mathematics Interdisciplinary
Doctoral Studies”.

In the event that the external funding is not received, the scholarship expenses in the
following years will be covered by the Faculties, whose employees are the student’s primary
supervisors in doctoral conferment procedure, from the Ministry of Science and Higher
Education’s grants (based on the number of PhD students of the LiSMIDoS assigned to the
corresponding Faculty, that is to say, having the primary supervisor of that Faculty). It is
planned to maintain parity, so that each faculty can offer five PhD positions within LiSMIDoS
per year.
§5
Students participating in the LiSMIDoS are taken into account in the algorithm of the
University of Gdańsk and amount to the total number of students per particular Faculty of the
ones mentioned above, based on the student’s prime supervisor’s worksite. Benefits for work
in harmful conditions can only be paid to the student by the Faculty, whose employee is the
student’s prime supervisor. The list of students assigned to the corresponding Faculties is
generated by the Director of LiSMDoS.
§5
The Studies programme is directed by the Director of Doctoral Studies, further referred to as
“the Director”. The selection of the Director, appointment and dismissal of the Director and
the Deputy Director are carried out according to the LiSMIDoS Regulations.
§6
All matters not covered in this Agreement shall be subject to the following rules and
regulations:
The Statutes of the University of Gdańsk, the Resolutions of the Senate of the University of
Gdańsk, the Rector’s Decrees and the Regulations of LiSMIDoS.

The agreement has been made in four identical copies, one for each party.
