Who is the sponsor?
Catskill Communities That Care (CTC) was established to develop a shared vision and to form
partnerships that will lead to positive youth development. Our mission is to develop prevention and
intervention strategies that strengthen resiliency, protect youth against substance abuse, and promote
healthy behaviors and positive youth outcomes. The Catskill initiative has embraced the risk and
protective model of Communities That Care and follows the recommendation of the Substance Abuse
and Mental Health Administration to follow the Strategic Prevention Framework. Catskill Communities
That Care identified the following priority areas: 1) reduce poor behavior among youth, 2) increase our
youth’s commitment to school, 3) challenge factors within the community that supports continuation of
the use of substance abuse among youth, 4) and to foster attitudes of parents that support healthy
behavior and a drug-free lifestyle.
Catskill CTC was established in 2005. The first Catskill Chocolate Festival is founded on making Catskill
CTC a self-sustaining entity with a true sense of community.
