Catskill Communities That Care (CTC) was established to develop a shared vision and to form partnerships that will lead to positive youth development. Our mission is to develop prevention and intervention strategies that strengthen resiliency, protect youth against substance abuse, and promote healthy behaviors and positive youth outcomes. The Catskill initiative has embraced the risk and protective model of Communities That Care and follows the recommendation of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration to follow the Strategic Prevention Framework. Catskill Communities That Care identified the following priority areas: 1) reduce poor behavior among youth, 2) increase our youth’s commitment to school, 3) challenge factors within the community that supports continuation of the use of substance abuse among youth, 4) and to foster attitudes of parents that support healthy behavior and a drug-free lifestyle. Catskill CTC was established in 2005. The first Catskill Chocolate Festival is founded on making Catskill CTC a self-sustaining entity with a true sense of community. The first Catskill Chocolate Festival will be held at the Catskill Middle/High Schools on Saturday, March 13, 2010. The Chocolate Festival is a one-day display of chocolate creations by amateurs and professional chefs, chocolatiers, organizations. What you will receive when participating: Free admission; For $1: you can receive a raffle ticket, balloon and 1 ticket to vote for the People’s Choice Award of the Chocolate Lover’s Contest. For $1, you can receive three (3) forks for tasting our chocolate lover’s creations and water to cleanse your pallet between tastes! All proceeds from this event will go to benefit Catskill Communities That Care, a coalition of people and agencies working together to develop health, happy, drug-free youth. Vendor Information Calling all chefs, caterers, chocolatiers, artists and sculptors, clubs, organizations, children and families! ALL chocolate LOVERS welcome. Sell Candy, Baked Goods, Chocolate Molds, Cooking Utensils, Cakes, Hot Chocolate, Ceramic Eggs, Candy Dishes, Cookbooks, Illustrations, Recipes, Lollypops, Chocolate, Fondues and Dips, Chocolate Mouse, and BEYOND…. Or, if you have a product or service that fits into the scheme and you want to market to families, don’t miss this event! Vendors will receive an 8” x 11” cardstock sign with your business name. Please feel free to bring professional displays, signs, and marketing materials. Each vendor will be furnished: A space of approximately 6’ x 8’ Octagon Table with brown plastic table skirt 2 chairs 1 “chocolate” colored helium balloon for your table; Certificate from Catskill Communities That Care to hang in your establishment to show that you support Healthy, Drug-Free Youth Vendors are asked to make tax-deductible $25 donation made out to: Mental Health Association of Columbia and Greene Counties, Inc. Your tax-free donation will benefit Catskill Communities That Care, a coalition of school, community members and agencies who work together to foster healthy, drug-free youth. If vendors need two tables, Catskill Communities That Care asks if vendors can make a donation of $50. Free to youth groups (i.e. Girl Scouts, School groups, 4-H). EACH VENDOR IS ASKED TO BRING A DONATION THAT THAT WILL BE RAFFLED OFF, WITH ANNOUNCEMENTS OF DONATION FROM YOUR BUSINESS. Tasting Considerations (Chocolate Vendors) All participants agree to have sufficient food samples to adequately serve the public during the hours of the festival. Chocolate vendors and participants are asked to bring samples of their product for free tasting. Chocolate vendors and participants may limit samples to one person, or assess a fee for multiple tasting at their discretion to limit per person consumption. Please inform Festival Coordinator of your plans in advance. Beyond a taste, please feel free to SELL, SELL, SELL…. For $1, festival guests will receive 3 forks for tasting and water to cleanse the pallet. Please feel free to bring extra forks, toothpicks, napkins, plates, serving utensils. Please make sure that all foods are covered during the event. Each tasting participant will be provided with a plastic container for tasting tickets. Set up/Take Down/Clean Up All exhibitors are requested to set up their displays on Saturday, March 13, 2010 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Each exhibitor is expected to stay until close at 3:00 p.m. All exhibitors should break down their space immediately following the event. Vendors must keep their show space clean before, during and after the Chocolate Festival. Catskill CTC nor the Catskill Central School District is responsible for any items left at the facility. Trash cans will be available. Vendor Booths All vendor booths will be open and staffed during the Chocolate Festival on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Electric Electrical access is limited. Exhibitors must identify the need for electric on their registration form. Exhibitors must bring their own extension cords. Parking Parking is available in parking lots in front, side and across the street from the Catskill Middle/High School. Registration A registration/information booth will be located near the entrance of the Catskill Middle School. Please check in at the registration table to receive your exhibitor package. Heating/Cooling Participants are responsible for providing their own heating and cooling devices for their products, unless you are conducting a demonstration and Catskill Communities That Care has easy and free access from one of our partners. No propane tanks will be allowed within the confines of the building. If propane is needed, the vendor will be located outside the building. Taxes/Permits/Licenses/Insurance Coverage Vendors are 100% responsible for transactions between vendor and attendees. Taking orders is the best manner to do business. Vendors are responsible for any sales taxes, licenses, permits, fees, or insurance for associated sales. For $1, the public will receive 3 forks for tasting and a People’s Choice ticket to place in the plastic container for People’s Choice Award SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Chocolate Entries can be delivered Friday, March 12nd between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. or Saturday, March 13rd between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. to the Catskill Middle School. Judging will occur between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Public Viewing – Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Award Announcements - Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Application submission deadline is March 6, 2010. Preference will be given to the first 25 confirmed and paid entries as space is limited. All entries must be completely edible, made predominantly of chocolate, and be no larger than 2’ X 2’ square. Cake entries must also be accompanied by a tasting cake for the judging. Entries can be any family-friendly design that captivates the eye and is suitable for a 2-day display. A program will be available to the public using the information on the application. Competitors will be permitted to display a stack of business cards on People’s Choice voting table. Each entry will be furnished an exhibit card with the name of the entrant, establishment (if applicable), and the name of the entry Chocolate vendors and participants are asked to bring samples of their product for free tasting.
