It offers the student 56 hours of on-the-job experience and supervised training providing direct patient care, applying the clinical nursing skills acquired in the previous class. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Through the use of the supervised on-the-job practical application, the student will demonstrate knowledge and competency in basic clinical nursing skills as applied to the care of inpatient adults, in accordance with minimum entry-level industry standards in the application of: 1. Legal and ethical standards 2. Communication skills 3. Safety protocols 4. Asepsis and infection control 5. Knowledge of abnormal signs and symptoms 6. Observation, reporting and recording skills 7. Basic restorative skills 8. Patient care skills 9.
