1920s Research
Poster
Assignment
Overview: The 1920s were an exciting period in American
history, complete with numerous social changes and cultural conflicts. For
this assignment, each of you will complete a research poster on a topic
related to the 1920s and the novel, The Great Gatsby. Then, each student
will participate in a Gatsby party/gallery walk and view all of the posters.
The Process:
1. Conduct research on your topic by using Internet and print
resources. Make sure the focus of your research centers around
the 1920s.
2. Identify 10 key facts, pieces of information or noteworthy items to include on your poster. Make sure
you focus on why this topic is important to our study of the 1920s.
3. Find three graphics, photos or illustrations that best illustrate your topic to include on your poster.
4. Create a visually pleasing poster with all of your information.
The nittygrity (your
poster must):
 Your poster must be poster board.
Colored board is fine, but NOT neon.
 Each of your 10 facts must be neatly
written or typed.
 You must have at least THREE photos,
graphics or illustrations for your poster.
These should be mounted before pasting
onto the board.
 Your poster must have a headline stating
your topic readable from three feet away.
 Your MUST have three sources that are
in MLA style in a bottom corner on the
front of your poster. At least ONE of
these three sources must be from a
book, magazine or other print material.
NOT ALL OF YOUR RESEARCH CAN
BE DONE ONLINE!
 Wikipedia cannot be used as a source!
 Your poster should be interesting and
creative. Keep your poster and your
creativity related to the topic. For
example, if your poster is on Prohibition,
glitter glue flower designs are not
appropriate.
