Reflexive Verbs Project: “Mi dia tipico”
In this Thematic Unit we are focusing on “reflexive verbs” which are verbs where the
person who is doing the action is also receiving the action. (For example: acostarse/ me
acuesto = I go to bed OR cepillarse el pelo/ me cepillo el pelo-I brush my hair) We have
learned how to conjugate these types of verbs, but now it is time to put them to use!
For this project, I am giving you a few different options on how you can complete the
assignment. Please choose from the following list:
1. If you would like to work in a group of 3-4 you can:
a. Create and perform a skit
b. Create and record a video
2. If you would like to work as a pair (2 people) you can:
c. Create a PowerPoint presentation
d. Create and record a song/rap
3. If you would like to work alone, you can:
e. Create a story board
Reflexive Verbs: Skit
For this project option, you may work in a group of 3-4 people. The purpose of this
project is to discuss things you and other people do on a daily basis. Here are the
requirements for the skit option:
a. You and your group members create a skit (storyline is up to you) while using
the different reflexive verb forms. Every person in the group needs to speak
equally. Each person must say at least 8 conjugated reflexive verbs in
varying tenses (it cannot all be in the Yo form, you must also use other forms
like nosotros and ustedes).
b. The skit should be 2-3 minutes in length
c. You must use props (that can include costumes, backdrops, and any other
props that can enhance the skit). If you have no costumes or props you will
NOT receive full credit. If your story requires you to be in regular “every
day” clothing, you must have other props to show you have put in the effort.
Every person in skit should have at least one prop.
d. You will need to turn in one typed copy of the group script. In the script the
reflexive verbs need to stand out somehow (highlighted, underlined, in bold,
etc.). You also must have the names of everyone in your group and who says
what lines so I can follow along during the skit.
e. The skit should be close to memorized. You can have 1 small note card to
help you remember lines, but you should NOT be reading off a paper the
entire time.
f. Each individual in the group must turn in a list of the things they contributed
to the project. You must include the following things in the list:
i. The 8 reflexive verbs you said in the skit and their meaning
ii. Any other Unit four vocabulary you used
iii. What your role in the group was. What were you in charge of
and how did you contribute to the group’s success?
Reflexive Verbs: Create a Video
For this project option, you may work in a group of 3-4 people. The purpose of this
project is to discuss things you and other people do on a daily basis. Here are the
requirements for the video option:
1. You and your group members create a story line, while using the different
reflexive verb forms. Every person in the group needs to speak equally. Each
person must say at least 8 conjugated reflexive verbs in varying tenses (it cannot
all be in the Yo form, you must also use other forms like nosotros and ustedes).
2. The video should be 2-3 minutes in length
3. You must use props (that can include costumes, backdrops, and any other props
that can enhance the skit). If you have no costumes or props you will NOT
receive full credit. If your story requires you to be in regular “every day”
clothing, you must have other props to show you have put in the effort. Every
person in skit should have at least one prop.
4. You will need to turn in one typed copy of the group script. In the script the
reflexive verbs need to stand out somehow (highlighted, underlined, in bold, etc.).
You also must have the names of everyone in your group and who says what lines
so I can follow along during the skit.
5. The video performance should be close to memorized. You can have 1 small note
card to help you remember lines, but you should NOT be reading off a paper the
entire time.
6. Each individual in the group must turn in a list of the things they contributed to
the project. You must include the following things in the list:
i. The 8 reflexive verbs you said in the skit and their meaning
ii. Any other Unit four vocabulary you used
iii. What your role in the group was. What were you in charge of and
how did you contribute to the group’s success?
7. You will be presenting this to the class, so if you choose this option you must make
sure you can somehow show it in class (jump drive, DVD, etc.) You may want to check
if your media works the day before your presentation.
*If you would like to record a music video, please see Make a Song/Rap directions
Reflexive Verbs: PowerPoint Presentation
For this project option you may work with one other person. The purpose of this project
is to practice conjugating reflexive verbs and to be able to use them in context. Here are
the requirements for the following project:
1. Create at least 10 slides that talk about you and your partner typical day by
using reflexive verbs. Each student is responsible for at least 5 of the slides,
and each person must have 8 different reflexive verbs in varying tenses (For
example, you cannot always use “yo.” You can say “we” do this or “my older
brother” does this etc.)
2. Each slide should be chronological in how things are done throughout the day
and should incorporate pictures. I would like you to have pictures of yourself
as you are showing these slides. For example, if one slide says “Despues, me
cepillo los dientes.” I would then like a picture of you brushing your teeth.
3. If you choose this option, please make sure your PowerPoint will be able to
open on the computers at school as you will be presenting this to the class. (I
recommend you practice sometime at school BEFORE the day of your
presentation to make sure all media is working)
4. I would like one printed copy of the PowerPoint presentation from the group
5. Individually, I would like you to write me a list including the following
things:
a. What reflexive verbs did you use and what do they mean?
b. What other Unit four vocabulary did you use for this project?
c. What was your role in the project? What did you do best and how did
you contribute to you and your partner’s success?
Reflexive Verbs: Story Board
Follow the same guidelines as the Powerpoint but you will be putting all writing and
pictures onto a poster board. (I would like pictures to be your own pictures, but will allow
drawings on posterboard). Can be neatly hand written.

Reflexive Verbs: Song or Rap
For this project you may work with one other person. The purpose of this project is to
demonstrate your knowledge of reflexive verbs and how they are conjugated. This rap
can be recorded onto a CD or iPod and played in class or it can be recorded like a music
video and played in class. If you want, you can also perform it live during class. Here are
the following requirements:
1. Create a song/rap that talks about a typical day. The song should include reflexive
verbs in every single tense and talk about multiple people and what they do.
Each student needs equal time singing/rapping and should each say at least 8
different verbs.
2. It needs to be recorded so it can be played for the class or you can choose to
perform it live in front of the class (If you perform it live in class, it needs to be
almost completely memorized. I do not want you reading off a piece of paper).
3. I need a print out of the lyrics so I can follow along during the performance. All
reflexive verbs should standout in text, so please highlight or underline for me.
4. Individually, I would like each student to turn in a list of the following things:
a. What reflexive verbs you said in the performance and their meanings
b. Any other Unit four vocabulary that you included in presentation
c. What your role in the project was and how you contributed to you and
your partner’s success.
