Cohasset Middle School Trip to Quebec City
Grade Eight French Students
INVITATION TO ATTEND A PARENT MEETING
TOUR INFORMATION
January 7, 2016
Dear Parent or Guardian,
This year students from Grade 8 will have the opportunity to visit Quebec
City. The tour will take place April 29, 30, and May 1, 2016 and will be
supervised by teachers from Cohasset Middle School. The tour will be
planned by Jumpstreet Educational Tours (www.jumpstreet.com), a
company specializing in educational tours for students since 1988. This tour
is contingent on the approval of the Cohasset School Committee.
The Faculty in the Cohasset Middle/High school language department
believes that this tour will be an excellent complement to our educational
program. Through this interactive approach to learning, the students will
experience concrete applications of the French language and culture.
The objectives of the tour are to:
 Provide an opportunity for the students to practice French.
 Learn about the history and government of one of the oldest
cities of North America.
 Experience the arts and architecture of Quebec
 Expose students to a new city and give them the opportunity to
experience new cultures. The students will return to the
classroom with an open mind towards the rest of the world.
 Permit students to enjoy a community experience, to learn to
take care of themselves and to compromise and adjust to
various situations.
 Enjoy a memorable experience with their peers
Academic Expectations
1. Students will write an essay in French expressing their interest in
traveling to Quebec.
2. Students will keep a graded journal/sketchbook of sites visited.
3. Students will post pictures and comments on class Instagram
4. Presentation and critique of a site visited (to be completed upon their
return)
Students will not be invited to participate if they:
 Have consistent disciplinary actions against them.
 Do not have a passing grade due to incomplete assignments.
 Have incomplete homework.
Transportation and hotel accommodations will be carefully selected by
JUMPSTREET. (www.jumpstreet.com)
Cost of the trip is approximately $485 per student (depending on amount
of students participating).
Itinerary for a three day tour includes:
Historic tour of the old city of Quebec
Cabane à Sucre (maple sugar shack)
Montmorency Falls
If your child would like to participate in this cultural
excursion, there will be an information parent meeting on:
