Royal Roads University (Victoria, BC) is offering a Master of Arts (MA) in Disaster and
Emergency Management.
The MA in Disaster and Emergency Management is a 2-year interdisciplinary degree dedicated
to educating both aspiring and existing disaster and emergency management professionals. It will
teach learners how to assess, prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from traditional
natural environmental disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, fires, floods and droughts and
human-induced disasters such as pandemics and health risks, and new, emergent threats such
as bio-chemical, nuclear and cyber-terrorism. Topics covered will include logistics and financial
management, business continuity, risk assessment, knowledge and information management,
systems thinking, and inter-agency coordination.

With respect to the March 31, 2008 intake. Although Royal Roads University accepts applications
at any time, if you hope to attend the next program, they recommend you begin the application
process well before the start of the program. FYI, in order to complete your application for review
