Slated for Sept. 23-25 in Woodward
(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Museums from across Oklahoma will meet to ‘Create, Contemplate and
Collaborate’ during the Oklahoma Museums Associations Annual Conference to be held in Woodward,
Okla., Sept. 23-25. The 200 museum professionals will have opportunities to gain insight into challenges
and potential solutions related to innovative museum operations.
The conference keynote presentation ‘Life’s Lessons Learned’ is Thursday, Sept. 24 presented by James
H. Bruns. During his 30-year federal and nonprofit career, Bruns has served as a Smithsonian curator,
museum director and deputy to the assistant secretary for American Museum and National Systems.
Conference attendees be able to attend seminars with topics such as effective fundraising, educational
programming, museum collections care, designing interactive exhibits, digitizing on a dime, professional
etiquette, marketing and e-newsletters. Museum professionals will also have the opportunity to network
with other industry professionals from around the state and the nation. There is also an exhibit hall
featuring museum-related products and services for conference participants.
“The OMA Annual Conference is the most beneficial educational experience museums professionals can

Pre-conference workshops include a tour and ‘History Evolved; Missions, Museums and Exhibitions’ at
the Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum and a ‘Farmers Institute’ at the Major County Historical society.
OMA award winners will be recognized at the annual awards luncheon, Friday, Sept. 25. Tickets for the
