Meaningful Activities (Lesson Sequence):
Day 1 - 3
Complete these speaking and listening activities.
1. “Talking about a New Project”

 Display script on the P. Board and pass out idioms “cheat sheet.”
 Listen to conversation then take quiz. Check answers together.
2. “Tongue Twisters” http://www.eslmania.com/students/accent_reduction/Tongue_twister_with_audio.htm
 Individually practice the 2 assigned tongue twisters by listening to it and quietly practicing it.
 Reconvene. Read your tongue twister to your partner while she crosses off mispronounced words on the P.
Board.
 Count mistakes. Give a prize to whomever has the least number.
3. Emotions Game – Make emotion flashcards (PDF). Students take turns picking a card then pantomiming
it. The others have to guess what the emotion is.
4. Desert Exercise – Follow the activity on desert instructions activity sheet.
5. Directions Exercise – Two minute quiz which tests students’ skill in reading and following directions.

6. Extra Time Activities - Complete an activity(ies) in each of the following categories from the
www.a4esl.org webpage and print your results: grammar quizzes, vocab quizzes, crossword puzzles.
