Board Treader Oct 2011 Hi Guys Sorry this month’s BT is a little late. We’ve got several notices this month so here goes. A couple of Reminders from the committee: - We have a theatre cat who’s back and looks like staying. Her name is Mrs Mushnik. If you can keep an eye on her food & water and top it up as needed, it’s all the green room. - Carol Vockins has been talked in to, not running, but co-ordinating the publicity for the theatre so if you need a hand please get in contact with her or let me know and I will pass on your contact details to her. - Season Tickets, we do them and for an adult they are £45 for a season. This covers all 3 plays 2 musicals and the panto. (It works out at seeing one of the plays free). If you’re interested please call the box office and mum or I will sort it out for you. - Next Quiz, Annette and Jon have organised another quiz for us which will be taking place on Saturday 26th November. I believe it will be arrive at 7 for a prompt 7:30 pm start. If you arrive at 7:31 you will have missed the first question so please be warned. - The Carol Concert date has been changed. It will now be on Sunday 11 th December. Please see below for further details. The Committee would also like to say congratulations to Katie Cox for winning the NODA category she was put up for an award in. Katie has been with the theatre for a number of years and has given us her all every single minute. Thank you Katie for all of your hard work with and for us over the years and congratulations for the award. Tiptoe Through the Tombstones Here is all you need to know to be able to participate in our upcoming murder/ mystery comedy thriller. Don’t delay – make a note in your diary of the relevant dates today. We have 10 roles to fill – 6 women and 4 men, We need you! The information in the grid below is taken from the script, but we are much more fluid in our requirements. We need the characters to be age appropriate to be a family, but would be happy for them to be 10 to 20 years either side of the stated age (or more!). The script also gives character and physical descriptions. The characters are the important bit – the physical characteristics are not important to us and we only put them in to add to your feel of the part. The playwright says that all the characters should be played on the verge of caricature, but with sincerity, as it is a spoof. Shinfield Players Charity Christmas Concert – Sunday 11th December @ 7.30pm This year will be a twinkly and traditional concert in aid of a great charity – George’s Marvellous Medicine, which was actually set up by a local boy, George, aged 5 as he recovers from Leukaemia. Cara and Mark are directing this year’s show. There will be some new music and many old favourites too. Actors are needed too for two sketches and the odd poem. Rehearsals are from 5pm to 7pm on the following Sundays: 23rd Oct 30th Oct 6th Nov 13th Nov 20th Nov 27th Nov 4th Dec Please do decide to be involved this year. We need a choir made up of all kinds of voices in order to succeed and we have only seven rehearsals to get it right! There is not too much to learn outside of rehearsals. And it’s always great fun! Call 07765 645109 or cara@shinfieldplayers.org for more info. See you on Oct 23rd, Cara and Mark x Use of theatre for rehearsal space Would all directors/producers please ensure that times and date requests for rehearsals are with Cara, pre-read through’s. These are then finalised into the calendar. If anyone wishes to extend/change times or dates for rehearsal please contact Dilys Corlett dilys50@btinterent.com to check availability who is managing the calendar and external hires. This should avoid frustration when there is insufficient rehearsal space due to previous bookings as on occasions recently. Also please can each rehearsal group ensure they leave the coffee bar clean and tidy, dishwasher emptied, re-filled and surfaces wiped down. We don't have a cleaner.
