Notes of Meeting 28th September 2015 of the Haydon Bridge and Allendale Patient Participation Group (PPG). In Attendance. Anne Grieve, Vera Fletcher, Jean Ford, Dr Mary Henderson, & David Stewart (notes) Apologies. Joan Irwin, Barry Clayton, Ian Fell, Dave Crellin & Annie Bishop Welcome and Introductions The group confirmed the notes of the PPG meeting on 29th August and the Open meeting of 9th September with one change, and then their posting to the practice website. Open Meeting The group reviewed the meeting and recommended (in no particular order) as follows Thanks to Jean and Vera for refreshments and organising the venue, Ian for “sponsorship”, Dave for chairing, and Chris for talking about Healthwatch. Refreshments on arrival Venue to be in one of the villages Advertising to be more strategic All practice staff to be encouraged to attend Purpose of meeting to be clearer To include an information/educational role for patients Parish Councils to be approached to advise on a solution to the transport issue Practice Issues The CQC report is awaited. The practice is advertising for an apprentice, the third. Flu vaccination programme is underway. Friends and Family Test Anne Grieve reported small numbers completing the survey and it was agreed to consider the results next meeting. Survey The group agreed question 17 be included with health assistant being added to the list, with Ian and Barry to liaise with Anne to implement. Patient Group Membership The group had wide ranging discussion on PPG role and membership, in particular noting the purpose of the group needs updating, a chair is required and that the membership needs refreshing. It was agreed: To ask Parish Councils for their view on what the PPG should do (Dave and Vera) And to enquire similarly from the practice staff meeting (Mary and Anne) To recruit via poster in both surgeries (Anne) To appoint a new chair at next meeting. Next Meeting - agreed for 6.30pm 9th November at Allendale. Progress at 28th September on work plan 2015 Activity Patient annual meeting. Organise an informative and entertaining event for patients to help the practice (& the PPG in particular) hear from patients and improve and develop its service Library. Investigate what resource there is, what patients want, and suggest how patients’ needs are best met at the two surgeries CQC inspection. Participate in the inspection Friends & Family Test. Monitor responses, comment on issues and suggest solutions. Surgery advice. Advise practice staff on patients issues at the two surgeries Patient care data opt out.
