Hohai University
Hohai University, established in 1915, is a state key university under the direct administration of Ministry of
Education of China. It is a comprehensive university with research and study of water resources as its main focus,
education of engineering subjects as its first priority, and coordinated development of many disciplines covering
engineering, science, economics, management, liberal arts, and law. Located in Nanjing, the capital city of
ancient China, Hohai University has more than 30,000 students and offers 50 bachelor programs, 124 master
programs, and 38 PhD programs, among which, Hydrology, Hydraulic Engineering, and Civil Engineering are
among the top in China. The faculty and graduates have been heavily involved in the research, design,
construction, and management of some world-wide known hydraulic and hydropower projects, such as the
Yangtze River Three Gorges Project and the South-to-North Water Transfer Project. The University is one of the
first universities in China who took in international students. Thousands of international students from over 60
countries in Africa, Asia, America, Europe, and Oceania have completed their studies at Hohai. To encourage
high-caliber international students to study at Hohai, the University established Hohai Scholarship for
International Students in 2005.
