With this inclusion, over 10,700 e-journals and 34,000 e-books from 92 publishers on behalf of over 2,000 societies and associations have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The company intends to launch its finalised PDA product this summer. Additionally, ebrary is conducting a survey to better understand libraries' needs and challenges with regard to PDA models. The initiative, called the Global Institutional Profiles Project, will seek to create data-driven portraits of globally significant research institutions. It would look to combine peer review, scholarly outputs, citation patterns, funding levels and faculty characteristics in one comprehensive database. The American Chemical Society (ACS) Office of Public Affairs has launched a Chinese-language news site on EurekAlert!, an online science news service sponsored by American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The ACS Chinese site will feature reports from research papers authored by Chinese scientists that have appeared in the ACS News Service Weekly PressPac, a collection of press releases based on research selected from ACS' 38 peer-reviewed journals and Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN), the Society's weekly newsmagazine. In 2009, 25 library customers partnered with EBSCO to beta-test ERM Essentials in two phases with an initial round during the spring and a second phase beginning in mid-October. The new approach is expected to reduce the carbon footprint associated with printing and distributing the journals by about 40 percent.
