Dear

We hope that as a previous customer of ours, you are satisfied with your PV install and that you are continuing to reap the benefits of the sun!

At Solar Solutions Malvern, we are very pleased to inform you that we have recently expanded our services into even more renewable energy products, so that our customers can reduce their carbon footprint further and save even more money. We are now fully accredited installers of heat pumps and solar thermal. We have launched a number of home efficiency measures, including voltage optimisation and the ImmerSUN. And furthermore, we will be adding wind turbines, biomass and hydroelectric to our list very soon.

Heat pumps are an excellent way to heat your home or business, if you are off the gas grid. There are two types of heat pump; air source (ASHP) and ground source (GSHP).

An ASHP is a relatively small box which sits outside your property and extracts heat from the air outside, in the same way that your fridge extracts heat from its inside. This heat is then absorbed into a fluid, which passes through a compressor to raise its temperature. Then this higher temperature heat can be passed around your heating system and can be used to heat radiators, under floor heating systems, warm air convectors and hot water.

A GSHP uses a loop of pipe which is buried under the ground. Water and anti-freeze circulate through the pipe and heat from the ground is absorbed into it. This fluid then goes through a compressor which raises its temperature, so that it can be passed through your heating system. The system then starts again as the cooled fluid is recycled and absorbs heat from the ground again, for as long as heating is required.

Heat pumps can save you huge amounts on your heating bills and you can also get paid for every kW/hour of energy you generate under the proposed Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. The

RHI works in the same way as the Feed in Tariff works with your PV panels. Plus, the energy saving trust is offering a grant under the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) scheme, towards the installation cost. For an ASHP, you will get £850 and for a GSHP, you will get £1250.

Solar thermal panels are a brilliant way to increase your independence from the grid and get round rising fuel prices. Again, you can also get paid for the water that you heat, under the proposed RHI and there is a grant available of £300.

We also offer an alternative to solar thermal panels that can heat your water in wind, rain, sun and even during the night! Thermodynamic panels circulate a refrigerant around at a temperature of

-20˚C, which absorbs the heat from the outside air. It then releases this heat into your water, through a heat exchanger. Next, the now cooled refrigerant liquid passes back through the veins in the panel and the process begins again. Because the air temperature is almost always higher than -

20˚C, the panels can absorb heat from the air almost continually. Again, thermodynamic panels will be eligible for the proposed RHI.

One of our home efficiency measures we offer is voltage optimisation. Most electrical appliances require approximately 220V to operate. Yet, the National Grid supplies us with electricity at approximately 242V. This means that every time you use electricity, you are wasting a considerable amount which cannot be used by your appliances. This wasted electricity costs you money and can contribute significantly to your electricity bill, as well as increasing your carbon footprint. This is where voltage optimisation comes in. We can install a clever device which constantly monitors your voltage demand and will adjust the incoming supply’s voltage accordingly. This will ensure minimum voltage wastage and will also enable you to use all of your appliances effectively. By stopping your appliances from being oversupplied with electricity, it ensures they do not burn off the excess power as heat and therefore will increase their life span. You will of course make big savings on your electricity bill (up to 18% a year!) and reduce your carbon footprint.

We are now proud installers of the ImmerSUN. ImmerSUN is a very clever device that works with your PV panels, to save you even more money. As you know, when you generate your own electricity with PV, sometimes you generate more electricity than you can use in your home.

Normally, this excess electricity is exported back to the grid and you get paid the export tariff.

However, the ImmerSUN directs this excess electricity to your immersion boiler where it is used to heat hot water for your home. Plus, you will still receive the export tariff for the electricity you use to heat your boiler. If your home suddenly requires more electricity eg. the washing machine is turned on, the immerSUN will reduce the amount sent to heat water to help you maintain independence from the grid.

This device can help you make substantial savings on your fuel bills. Solar Solutions Malvern can install this device for £449 plus VAT at 5%, bringing the total to £471.45 including VAT. It is estimated that the immerSUN will pay for itself in 3-5 years.
