Energy can only travel through a circuit if it is connected all the way through. An incomplete circuit will not conduct electricity. Electricity will only move through the wires if they are part of an electrical circuit. There are several types of energy: Solar energy – light energy from the sun that is changed into thermal (heat) energy or electrical energy Light energy travels in a straight line. When it interacts with matter, it can be transmitted through, absorbed, or reflected. As light transmits through different kinds of matter it can bend (refract). This can make the image look bigger or smaller. What are examples of uses of solar/light energy? Thermal (heat) energy - the energy in things––the vibration and movement of the atoms and molecules inside materials What are examples of uses of thermal/heat energy? Page 2 of 4 INTERACTIONS AT WORK Energy Interactions Energy Interactions Unit Assessment-A 5T1U2A11 Electricity - energy that can make light or heat What are examples of how we use electricity? Sound Energy – the energy created by sound vibrations travelling through matter. What are examples of how we use sound energy?
