Underground mining. Hard coal. Lublin Coal Basin. Thin seams mining. Concentration of coal faces.
Geological conditions as well as the two longwall sets of equipment working out the seam 385/2 – 1.6 to 2m. thick in the region of exploitation – in
“Bogdanka” Colliery are characterized. This seam has been worked in the panel V since 1997, where the next, sixth longwall has been put into
operation at present as well as in the panel IV, where the first longwall put into operation in December 2005
has been working up to January 2007. The both longwall sets of equipment are equipped with power support Glinik and cutter-loaders of Joy
Company. Production performance in the panel V reached 10,000 Mg/d of run of mine coal and in the first longwall in the panel IV was even better.
In the month of March 2006 this longwall achieved 407 m of face advance and the average daily output in this month amounted to 15,000Mg of run
of mine coal.

Seismological Network.
Characteristic of seismic activity of Upper Silesian Coal Basin induced by the mining activity of mines based on the systematic observation conducted
by the Regional Seismological Network of the Main Mining Institute is presented. Basing on registered seismograms the data bank is continuously
worked out including basic seismological parameters of rock mass tremors seismic energy E ≥ 105 J such as: date and time of the phenomenon
occurrence, tremor energy, magnitude, name of the mine, coordinates of epicentre. Data from the data bank
from the years1974 ÷ 2006, which includes 65,165 tremors, are used for research connected with the widely understood analysis of state of bump
hazard in mines as well as evaluation of dynamic interaction of vibrations caused by the tremor on the surface natural environment in the Upper
Silesian Cola Basin. The level of seismic phenomenon intensity, which occur in a few regions (Bytom trough, main anticline, Kazimierz trough, main
trough, Jejkowice trough and Jastrzębie foldings) is very diversified – from the tremors insensible to the people, up to the strong ones of the character
of weak earthquakes.

Special case of selection of two main fans ram effects in calculations of forced air propagation in mine .
Prz. Gór. 2007, Vol. 63, No.7-8, pp. 22÷28, 6 Figs, 4 Tables, 15 Refs.
Mine ventilation system. Main fans. Selection of fan ram effect. Underground mines.
In calculations of forced air propagation in designed or existing mine ventilation system (so called system control) among others one determine
necessary main fans ram effects as well as parameters of propagation controllers. In the passive systems without dependent air-flows and with this
flows this problem is already worked out. Among others one aims at main fans power minimization. In the systems with
dependent flows occurring in the return zone between subsystems of main fans the known methods can not be used – necessity to work out a new way
of calculations conducting appears. The simplest case of two main fans ram effect selection is presented, where apart from determination of special
way, e.g. the most difficult, necessity of air distribution to this fans and their power minimization occur. The
more complex cases require using more detailed optimization.

Rock mass tremors. Accelerations of ground vibrations. Regression models. Tremor energy. Seismological networks. Mining operations.
The problems connected with reproduction and forecasting of the fields of the maximum amplitudes of horizontal components of ground vibration
accelerations generated by the strong rock mass tremors are discussed. The ways of using empirical data received from developed network of the
surface observation stands for creation of regression models binding tremor energies and their epicentre distances with ground vibrations parameters
are presented. For the selected mining region with strong seismic hazard distributions of the maximum ground
vibrations acceleration generated by the strongest tremors are reproduced. Errors of executed estimations are analyzed. The determined equation of
regression have been used also for the forecast of maximum ground vibrations which can be generated by the tremors connected with designed
mining operations.

Price of brown coal as transfer price – Economic aspect.
Prz.Gór. 2007, Vol. 63, No.7-8, pp. 51÷56, 3 Figs, 12 Refs.
Brown coal. Brown coal-fired power plants. Transfer prices.
Attention is paid to economic ties existence between the mine and the power plant resulting from their functioning in the bilateral monopoly.
Application of optimization of opencast mines allows, through selection of optimum target working for various coal prices, on maximization of the
total long-lasting profit. This profit will be constant independently on established coal price even if the transfer price is different as the optimum price
for this working. Application of the game theory is proposed for the analysis of negotiation situation as well as using
of Nash arbitration diagram for determination of coal transfer prices. Influence of coal price selection on profit distribution between both parts in the
field of contract curves (between the prices determining profitability of the mine and the power plant for each of generated working) is demonstrated
on the profit distribution diagram using level lines of coal prices. They enable study of contradiction of group
and individual rationality as well as determination of incentive to opportunism (selection of the working maximizing profit of the mine). Incentive
decreases along with increase of the coal price, what should induce the power plant to make price concessions. Lack of cooperation and fight for price
may lead to realization of the sub-optimal variant in the sense of Pareto – exploitation of an working smaller than optimal for the whole system,
because only vertical integration of the both subjects can guarantee maximization of the total profit.

Price of brown coal as transfer price. Legislative aspect – way of prices fixing.
Prz. Gór. 2007, Vol. 63, No.7-8, pp. 57÷63, 5 Figs, 14 Refs.
Brown coal. Brown coal-fired power plants. Transfer prices.
Several “market” ways of transfer prices fixing in transactions between interconnected subjects foreseen by the legislator in order to calculate income
of taxpayers are described. This methods (among others of comparable uncontrolled price, sale price method, sensible margin method/”cost plus”) are
discussed from the point of view of usefulness for brown coal price fixing. Specificity of bilateral monopoly of mine and power plant causes, that
from proposed methods of transfer prices determination only principle of profit division (one of the methods of
transactional profit including also the method of the net transactional margin) seams to be proper for this purpose and both as residual analysis as well
as analysis of share. Regulations concerning concluding “Anticipated price agreements” are discussed and potential usefulness of procedures and
principles at coal prices negotiating are pointed out. Specificity of fixing a fair brown coal price is stressed
leaving discussion of the economic aspect of this problem for later.

Criterions of cutting heads selection for energy-saving heading machines.
Prz. Gór. 2007, Vol. 63, No.7-8, pp. 64÷70, 11 Figs.
Energy saving. Heading machines. Underground mines. Cutting heads. Mathematical models.
Problems connected with selection of heading machine cutting heads for determined geological conditions are discussed. Since cutting arrangement of
a heading machine is dynamic object, being subject to the effect of strong forcing of vibrations generated by the rock cutting process, selection of
stereometry of cutting heads should be realized using the procedure of dynamics study. The basis of usefulness evaluation of cutting heads with
determined stereometry for given exploitation conditions, basing on formulated criterions, is computer simulation of getting, where empirically
verified mathematical models of heading machine cutting arrangement are used.

Hydrological effects of proposed liquidation ways of post-exploitation working of sulphur Piaseczno near

Liquidation of opencast mines. Prognostic calculations.
From among many activities ending sulphur output from the deposit in the region of Tarnobrzeg the way of liquidation of the post-mining working at
Piaseczno became the main technological problem requiring solution. Creation of a water reservoir replacing the post-mining working has been
settled. The factor deciding about quality of water in the future recreation reservoir is limitation of inflow of polluted underground waters from the
Newer Tertiary system. The long-term forecasts of underground water levels in Holocen and Newer Tertiary stages as well as volumes of inflows into
the reservoir have been based on the results of research carried out on the hydrological model of the Tarnobrzeg Sulphur Basin. According to
accepted assumptions filling of the reservoir up to the height 146,0 m. above sea level as well as execution of melioration system (five ditches of the
basic network) of the surrounding land. From among protection activities in the working surrounding possibility of isolation of chemical series
outcrop on the slops or execution of anti-filtration membrane.
