KELLER ISD Key Strategic Priority: 1 ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION Learning Billingual Program Model – One-way Dual Language EHBE (R1) Keller ISD provides a bilingual education program that is a full-time program of dual-language instruction that provides for learning basic skills in the primary language of the students enrolled in the program and for carefully structured and sequenced mastery of English language skills. The program model used in Keller ISD is the Goméz and Goméz One-way Dual Language Enrichment model. The model shall be implemented at all bilingual campuses. The following are requirements for bilingual instruction. Language of Instruction (LOI): Content Area PK-1st grade 2nd- 5th grade 6th grade Reading/ Language Arts Spanish Spanish and English (50/50)* Spanish and English (50/50)* Math English English English Science Spanish Spanish Spanish Social Studies Spanish *Equal instruction time daily. Spanish English Key Components of DLE Model for Language Development, Content Learning and Enrichment: Grade Level PK2nd PK2nd Element s 3rd-6th 3rd-6th Language of the Day (LOD): Monday, Wednesday, & Friday: Spanish // Tuesday & Thursday: EnglishValidates both languages.
