LIONEL MURPHY POSTGRADUATE SCHOLAR Name: Dr Barbara Ann HOCKING Year: 1988 Scholarship: Australian Dr Barbara Ann Hocking was one of the earliest of the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholars. She has now been a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the School of Justice Studies at the Faculty of Law at Queensland University of Technology for over a decade. She has been Vice-President and is now President of the Association of Canadian Studies in Australia and New Zealand (ACSANZ), and in that capacity, she recently undertook work towards the establishment of a Network of CanadianAustralasian-Pacific Studies. Barbara Ann is on the organising committee of the next ACSANZ Conference, to be held in Brisbane in July 2008, and is currently organising a session on Indigenous Reparations for the Law and History Conference in Hobart in December 2006. She recently edited Unfinished Constitutional Business? Rethinking Indigenous Selfdetermination (Aboriginal Studies Press, AIATSIS, 2005) and is currently working on a second edition of her book Liability for Negligent Words (Federation Press, 1999). In 2004 Barbara Ann was awarded a Lilian Penson Fellowship at the University of London Institute of Commonwealth Studies and has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Giessen International Summer University (ISU) and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights in Lund. 15-Feb-16
